Norpro 1271 Squirt less Grapefruit Knife, , Yellow and Red , 8.75 inch

Bought this to replace an old one of the same type which I purchased years ago from another source. It is really good at cutting grapefruit and does so very efficiently, separating the segments and separating the flesh from the skin.

This does a good job with one end, the curved very sharp blade digs around the inside of the skin to release the fruit. It also cuts through the skin if you're not very careful, and will happily cut your fingers as well. The other end, which looks like two knives closely parallel to one another, is a bit of a puzzle. It sounds as though all you have to do is insert it and it separates the segments from their thin membrane skin. But actually it is really tricky to try t make it do this. Virtually impossible to get each blade to go each side of this membrane, seeing as they are almost stuck together. However, it will cut out your segments leaving the membrane on. You just have to slice each segment around a bit, getting juice all over the place, if you want them de-membraned. A good idea, but the design needs tweaking a bit, and it needs a cap for storing in the knife drawer, otherwise whichever end you pick it up by, or however you hold it in use, you will hurt yourself.

I had a similar knife when I was a child, which worked well. So I searched and found this. Works really well and glad I've got one now.

Excellent product. So quick and easy to prepare grapefruit... double blade at one end cuts both sides of a segment at the same time and curved end of knife then easily cuts around the outside. Clever product. Would recommend.

I have bought this item, and unfortunately the red paint comes off

Works fine to cut around the fruit, the end which is supposed to cut segments isn't that good

Bought with grapefruit saver and some grapefruit spoons as a gift for a grapefruit lover. Was well received.
