Warhammer 40,000: Paints + Tools Set

A good value paint set that is especially ideal if purchased one of the starter box sets which has space marines and tyranids. It gives you more options for more detailed painting plus a bunch of them will be handy for other armies if you decide to move on to others. It comes with some cutters to remove the parts from the sprues, a little file to smooth off mould lines and a basic paint brush that is ok but would recommend a better brush for finer detail

Does what it says on the box. As a starter box it has a good selection of paint that allows a fairly decent paint job, tools are a nice to have and the paint brush covers the majority of paint applications but it is a basic brush. However just to be clear you will need to buy extra paint if wanting to do some highlights and finishing touches that a so called pro painter might want.

Paint just perfect to do warhammer minitures

This set is a very handy way to get started with painting Warhammer miniatures. The paints included cover the basics well — you get a good mix of core colours that let you put together a decent looking squad straight out of the box. The brush is serviceable for beginners, and the clippers and mould line remover are surprisingly sturdy. For someone just starting out, it takes a lot of the guesswork out of which tools and paints you actually need. That said, there are a couple of things that keep it from being perfect. The paint selection is solid, but fairly limited — you’ll quickly want extra shades and highlights if you want more variety or depth in your models. The brush is fine for base coats and details, but it won’t hold up forever, and you’ll eventually want something of higher quality. It’s also on the pricey side when you compare it to buying paints and tools separately, though you are paying for the convenience of having it all in one box. Overall, it’s a great gateway into the hobby and makes a fantastic gift, but most people will outgrow the contents fairly quickly.

It is a second box we bought. My son is into warhammer painting. He likes it lot.

To be clear, I knew absolutely zero about painting miniatures when I ordered this. My oldest son decided he wanted to give Warhammer 40k a try, so I ordered him a starter kit, which came with no paint, which in my opinion doesn't make it a very good starter kit, but that's a different review. Thankfully I found this paint set, because buying the paints individually was going to be quite a bit more costly. Although it was pretty banged up when it was delivered, all the paints were intact. There is a good variety of colors and textures. You get 9 Base paints, one Contrast, one Shade, one Layer, and one technical. The brush that is included isn't the best, but it will get you started. Clippers worked as intended and they also toss in a little tool for removing excess plastic from your miniatures. No instructions or anything explaining the paint types, I had to look up videos to learn. From the few that we've used thus far, I can say that they seem to be good quality paints. The base paints are pretty thick with amazing pigment, even after you water them down a little and after drying leave a smooth finish. All in all, this little set is a great value compared to order the paints individually.
