It's the concentration/potency, purity and sourcing that makes this expensive!
Firstly, let's just get out of the way that this is a REALLY expensive product, and I would not be doing a review, had it not been sent to me to try at no cost to me. I don't usually preface my reviews that way but let's deal with the elephant in the room. That said, this product is amazing in that when I added it to my smoothies, I really felt a soothing in my digestive system, and the feeling is lasting, like a coating, I felt it on my tongue too. Great if you have dry mouth. If you've ever had slippery elm (another great plant), it's kind of like that. IF YOU take medication that causes dry mouth or are having a rhinoplasty (where in recovery you will mouth breath), this product is a Godsend! You can mix a small amount of the flakes with an oil (like coconut oil) and apply the paste to your tongue. It will remain in the mouth and create a moisture film, VERY SOOTHING to the mouth and tongue and throat!!Aloe is incredibly healing and is nutrient dense, it has a host of vitamins, such as A, C, B vitamins and several minerals. One thing I found in investigating aloe powders is that most are sourced overseas with little to no information about quality, processing, purity or potency. This comes from COSTA RICA AND HAS AN EXTRAORDINARILY HIGH CONCENTRATION/POTENCY, 500MG PURE ALOE VERA POWER (NOTHING ELSE) PER SERVING. You can look, but you won't find that concentration or purity so excellently sourced, I tried.Final verdict, I ADORE this product! I am using it to make a paste to sooth my dry mouth. Used this way, it will last me a long time. And because it is so pure and healing, I WILL BUY THIS AGAIN. For use in smoothies this is an expensive ingredient. Still, if you can afford it and you want to ramp up your nutrition and support digestive wellness in a potent, tried and true way, this is a no brainer. Aloe vera has been used for centuries around the world for good reason!I normally deduct a star when a product is overpriced but, in this case, the process of concentrating this powder and the sourcing is expensive, so the price is justified.
