ALTRAMen's Lone Peak 7 Trail Running Shoe

Greetings,I have fallen in love with Altra shoes - their wide, roomy toe box and neutral drop have been game changers for me. My favorite shoe has been the Lone Peak 5, but the LP7 was on super sale so I picked up a pair, here are my thoughts:- the LP7s are a touch heavier and a touch more padded than the LP5. I so love the feeling of lightness of the LP5s, but as a school teacher, I must admit the the tiny bit more shock absorption is noticeable in the 6th hour I'm on my feet. Same great feeling, same groovy fit, just a bit more shoe where I can use it.- I am really hooked on my bright RED LP5s, but the LP7s I got are the Green/Purple combination, which has its own unique "Hulk" appeal.- Quality is the same (excellent), fit feels about the same, the only difference seems to be the engineering of the new rock guard around the lower sides of the shoe. Time will tell as to whether it's better - the LP5s have never torn or been breeched by pointy things.- Gotta say, LOVE 'EM, and having a second pair lets me spread the load between them so my LP5s will continue to have around for even longer. Highly recommended.

About 6 months ago I got some lone peak 6’sWhich I use for everyday,hiking, backpacking, and a recent archery elk hunt in the backcountry of the Colorado mountains. I am thoroughly impressed with them, I wore hiking boots on the hunt for the first day and had hot spots on my heelsI switched to the lone peaks for all of the dry days the remainder of the hunt…. I put on 120 -140 miles in them with a 20 or so pound day pack through many miles of vertical both up and down, deadfall, and side hilling through various terrain.I brought the shoes as a just in case/camp shoe, but they ended up being my primary foot wear, no hot spots, or weird rubbing areasPros:all day comfortGood tractionLightweightDry quicklyDurableWide toe boxZero dropCons:Not even a tiny bit water resistantSide hilling would cause my foot to fatigue after some timeEverything said so far is for lone peak 6’sI’ve just received the 7’s and my first impression is that aside from styling they feel the same…I assume they’ll perform the same as the 6’s….time will tell

If you like to mountain hike, trail run, and rock scramble, and you have wide feet, the wide toe box feature of the Altra Lone Peaks make this shoe a good option. I purchased some Altra Lone Peak 6's about 9 months ago and unfortunately they have already worn out. The inseam (upper part) started to tear and the grips on the bottom of the shoe started to wear out. I liked the Lone Peak 6's for their wide fit and they were comfortable to a degree, but they did not have much support and were not durable. They gripped well on limestone rock and sandstone, but did slide around a bit on scree slopes as well on some of the rocky trails I go on. I already notice an upgrade with the Lone Peak 7 in comfort. they have a bit more padding. Also the grip and traction is clearly better, even on scree slopes I have noticed a clear improvement. The only thing I worry about with this shoe is long term durability. I'm not sure how Altra Lone peaks can improve on durability to make a more rugged shoe without giving up certain perks like the toe box width and overall flexibility of the shoe. I tried a pair of La Sportiva's as they appear to be highly regarded and more rugged, but their extra wide was not nearly wide enough in the toe box.

Son cómodos pero un poco amplios para mí, lo que me quita estabilidad. La calidad no corresponde al precio; nunca los uso en calle y la suela ya perdió toda la tracción, además las protecciones se están despegando y la suela se siente muy blanda para terrenos rocosos. Wide toe box for my duck feet + zero drop has me in heaven. Even though these shoes are trail runners, they're actually great every day shoes IMO. They are best suited to natural surfaces (grass, dirt trails etc) and I wouldn't run long distances on the pavement in them (but you can with no issue, they'll just wear fast)... but if you wear them as every day shoes you'll be fine. I prefer them in the city over most running shoes and they'll be the superior choice come winter.I have barefoot shoes for daily walking but rotate these in every now and then and also have a pair of Altra Torin 7's in wide which I bought for running but they feel a bit too much like walking on a pair of mattresses for every day use. These feel just right. The Lone Peaks are a classic for a reason.

I do quite a bit of hiking including long day hikes and the occasional backpacking trip in the mountains here in Alberta. I used to use hiking boots and have tried at least 4 or 5 different ones, but I would always get nasty blisters somewhere.The last few years I've kept trying progressively lighter shoes and I've ended up using Altra Lone Peak as my favorite. I used a pair of Lone Peak 4's for a number of years and they did very well. Comfortable over long distances, enough strength in the sole for walking on rocky ground, and NEVER any blisters. They also dry fast, so you can just wade through stream crossings and they'll dry out quickly.I've tried out my new Lone Peak 7s on a few hikes and they are even better than the 4's. The Lone Peaks have always had a wide toe box, but the 7's have a little more height at the toe which I like a lot.The other thing I love about them is I can tie them tightly for descents so my feet don't slide and have my toes hit the end of shoe. No more black toenails!

Really comfy and love the colour, really glad I bought these and they arrived earlier that expected. Would recommend the shoes and the company
