I remember experimenting with one of these Sterling Engines in primary school science class. This was many, many years ago but I still remember that it was one of the more interesting science experiments we did. I saw this Sterling Engine on Amazon and felt a bit of nostalgia and ordered it. I want my grandkids to experience what I did when I was a child. The engine arrives in a plain brown cardboard box that almost looks like someone put these kits together in their basement. The kit is very well packaged with bubble wrapped parts and tissue paper protecting the base. The kit is fairly easy to put together. The instructions show how to completely assemble the entire engine but some of it already comes pre-assembled and you can ignore those sections of the instructions and go to the next step to complete the assembly. The engine has a nice gold finish overall but some of the plating is a little bit rough in certain areas but this does not distract from the engine. It is a great display model and I've put it in my curio cabinet with some of my other collectibles. I can't comment on how well it runs because I'm waiting until my grandkids come over and we fire it up together. Overall I'm pleased with this Sterling Engine and recommend it as a good science experiment for your children (with adult supervision of course). Priced at $46.98 at the time of this review.

This this is amazing. The instructions suck but otherwise it it’s awesome to build a beautiful piece of history like this. My son and I did it together as a school project and now looking at how to improve the generator output.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The glass was broken, it was missing 3 of the 4 magnets, and the lights didn't work.
