[Micoas] Blueberry & Rice Vinegar Syrup - This tastes GREAT!
I received the [Micoas] Blueberry & Rice Vinegar Syrup to evaluate and review. It arrived in excellent condition and was delivered by the promised date.I can just say WOW! This stuff tastes GREAT! When I read the ad for it and it talked about pouring over ice cream, and some other "non-customary" uses (IMHO), I was thinking that my taste buds might rebel under some of those circumstances. However, I popped open this beautifully packaged vinegar syrup and just tasted it straight...and I could not believe how good it was! That was with it completely undiluted. That's pretty incredible to be able to enjoy any kind of vinegar straight from the bottle. I remember a few years back some friends gave my family some fancy vinegar as a gift, and it was very good, and I thought at that time that this type of product made a very classy gift, if given to the right people! Well, without question, this [Micoas] Blueberry & Rice Vinegar Syrup is the best I have ever tasted, and it would make a fabulous gift for any of your friends who enjoy gourmet cooking. I really think they will thank you for it, and if they are like me, they will already be concerned that they might run out of it soon! As you can tell, I give this FIVE BIG STARS and I definitely recommend it to you. If you even halfway like flavored vinegars then you will be so pleased with this product. I am eager to try their other flavor next! I hope this review has been helpful!

Surprisingly sweet
I had never really heard of a "drinking vinegar" before. I mean I know people drink Apple Cider Vinegar but only a spoonful and I've tried it and found it to be difficult to get past my tongue. I would never consider adding it to a beverage and wouldn't dare to put it on anything. It works fine in place of regular vinegar in salad dressings or in cooking, but I'd never consider it for much of anything else. This vinegar is a whole other story. While this says it's Pomegranate & Rice Vinegar "Syrup" there's nothing syrup-y about this, it's a very liquid substance and very much a vinegar. Yet, if it's vinegar taste is so minimal it comes across more as just tart and a little tangy. Most surprising though is how sweet it is. I sort of expected to hate this on it's own and probably just use it in vinaigrette salad dressings and cooking, much like I would do with Apple Cider Vinegar, but that's not the case. It's just enough sweet to be pleasant on the tongue, but with enough vinegar tang that you probably wouldn't want to just drink the bottle like it's some sort of beverage. I added it to a lemon-lime soda and it made for a pleasantly flavored drink. You can still taste the vinegar tang but it's never enough to make the drink off-putting. Now , I drink a spoonful on it's own before I eat in hopes that the health benefits attributed to drinking vinegar's will actually benefit me and I don't mind doing it.

Pomegranate & Rice Vinegar Syrup
I had very high expectations for this item so I was very excited to sit down and try it. A product of Japan in a very handsome package made of pomegranate was very intriguing to me.I unboxed the beautiful looking slender bottle. The color of the liquid was very good not too dark and not translucent.I opened the cap and took first smell of the aromatic liquid. It didn’t smell too vinegary but rather sweet and sugary. I poured half a spoon in a saucer and took first taste and I was surprised that it didn’t have the vinegar punch I was expecting, the sweetness of the liquid overpowered the taste of the vinegar.I liked the taste profile but the sweetness lingered. After checking the amount of sugar 8 grams/table spoon I knew I couldn’t taste it any more. This is not good for a diabetic person. It will have to be diluted in water and drank that way at least for me. I’ll be sharing it with others as it is meant to be used as a syrup.Overall this product is very tasty and made of quality ingredients. The price is rather high per table spoon but in similar level as wine vinegar condiments from Italy.

Expensive, very sweet
I like trying new foods, and was intrigued by the idea of "drinking vinegar". I sipped a little, expecting an acidic aftertaste--but this stuff is really sweet. One could literally drink the whole bottle at a sitting, enjoying a very expensive non-carbonated "soda". I had imagined using this in green salad dressings--but I will have to add some other form of vinegar to get the right balance of acid and sweet. I went looking for other recipes using drinking vinegar, and only found a slew of recipes to make drinking vinegar. Apparently the common use is in mixed "shrub" drinks. I expect I will use this as a dressing on only fruit salads, where the acid from the fruit will provide the balance of flavors.

My Oh My, Soooo Delightful!!! Use Sparingly!
This was such a wonderful product to try. I made a "spritzer" of sort with it, using Asian sparkling water and this pomegranate rice vinegar, in about a 3 to 1 mix. If you like the taste of vinegar they you will absolutely love this! It kind of tasted like a gook kombucha to me. I plan to try it other ways as suggested, like over yogurt or ice cream, or mixed into a salad dressing, or as a marinade sauce... but it is very pricy, so I want to be very careful with it, and use it sparingly... the only thing that will keep me from being too stingy is that they ask you to use it up fairly soon after opening the bottle. I guess it will not sit on my shelves as long as other rice wines usually do!
