This guide is definitely a step up from the basic ‘eclipse’ style ones you get in ‘sharpening sets’ along with an oilstone, and it’s pretty well made, with a nice full-width roller to give it stability. But it’s still a bit of a faff to hold the blade square in the guide while setting it to the right protrusion (despite the handy jig) and then locking it tightly in place without it shifting a bit in the process. I find myself spending too much time on that bit of the process. The locking screws needed a touch of WD, and even then, they’re made a bit sticky in their movement by the black japanning, which I think was a bit of style over substance. Maybe stainless steel threads would be functionally better? Overall, I can use it for now - but I think that now I’ve wandered into this price bracket, I’ll trade up at some point and get the Veritas one...

An excellent way to set up the correct honing angles for chisels etc. Very easy to use.

Absolutely rubbish to say it’s a trend the screw doesn’t tighten up enough to hold the chisel in place it came with missing measuring guide cheaper brands work better over priced rubbish

There are most definitely cheaper alternatives, that do a pretty good job, but I took the plunge and bought the Trend honing guide and this is on another level. A really good honing guide and the plate to help set the angle you require is also very helpful and easy to use. I would recommend this despite the higher price tag.

This item looks like it has been a return. Item in box is ok but box has definitely been opened as bar code is torn.

Definitely worth paying a bit more. This product is awesome. I usually get cramp sharpening my chisels bit this has helped for sure. Very quick and easy to use and very well made. Well done trend would definitely recommend
