Swoops lends a hand (and arm)
Like the other Legacy Core Dinobots Swoop is a small budget size version of the G1 character that transforms from robot to pterodactyl and back and also now transforms into the right arm of the Dinobot combiner Volcanicus. Swoop's robot mode is extremely poseable with nothing sacrificed for either mode and includes two blasters that fit into his hands and under the wings in dino mode. Pterodactyl mode's transformation is similar to most other versions of G1 Swoop and looks perfectly fine.. from the top. Unlike most other Swoops this version is designed to only lay flat despite having molded upright feet and while he looks fine like this (and kind of cute actually) anybody who wanted him to have a more upright posture will be disappointed. Arm mode is a few simple steps added to dino mode and is completed by combining the two blasters into a fist weapon that slots into position in the former legs. Plug the chest peg into the slot on Volcanicus's shoulder (Sludge's arm) and you're good to go. Much like Scarr the combiner arm is extremely poseable and can rotate and turn in multiple directions. All in all a fine toy and combiner piece.

impressed with is the amount of articulation
Swoop is my favorite Dinobot hands down and while this is no SS86, this is a fun small Swoop. The quality is excellent and the paint applications are better than one would expect on core size. His two accessory guns peg on very nicely to his wings. What I am most impressed with is the amount of articulation on such a small figure. I keep his great swoop at my desk to fidget with during the day.

Good figure.
Surprisingly good for a core. Especially compared to it's fellow core dinos. Probably won't break? IDK why this thing is obsessed with durability. It's a transformer. If you give it to a kid it'll break eventually. Speaking of which, he has ball joints that pop apart easily. Probably not the best choice for small children. Not really sure if it's accurate to anything in particular. Maybe IDW? Defo not the archaic old cartoon from the late twentieth century. Solid $9 figure.

Easily the vest of the Core class Dinobots so far
This is the only one aside from perhaps the upcioming Snarl (still unreleased as I write this) that could stand alone in its own right as a gift, with much lower compromises in the robot and dino modes for the sake of becomeing part of a larger robot, in this case an arm. The paint and proportions are far better for one thing, and having articulated elbows is a big plus as well. Of course, the combined form and ability to have a whole team of Dinobots formed up together in a small amount of desk or shelf space is a big part of the draw, and that factor does significantly make up for the individual shortcomings of the previous four members, so don't hesitate on that account.

A good cheap figure.
Core class figures are not bad by any means and are perfect ways to save some money. So if you want to save some money core class figures look about as good as the bigger figures (there will be some detail differences) and are certainly worth the around $13 you pay.

Love this range. Easy enough that our son can transform it himself unlike some of the more complex transformers.

Pretty hard to buy else where so the slightly higher price was worth it considering that its scarcce to find. I really like this figure although core class are really not everybodies cup of tea. The robot mode is really nice as is the bird mode, slightly in need of some more paint but yeah, its lovely. Im keeping this figure in Volcanicus combine mode along with all the others in the set. The larger robot mode is pretty cool too.
