How isolation SHOULD be done
These are great, but rarely a simple job to retrofit. They assume that the supply pipes are coming through the wall - which if your basin/WC/bidet is hanging off it is either a stud wall that has been specifically designed with studs to support the unit or a block wall of some sort - either of which means that you need some way of bringing the supply to the surface with a securely mounted female 3/4 connector. My favoured way is to use John Guest elbows (JG 15PWB) but these really need to be mounted on their own stud. Simple if you plan in advance (i.e. before the wall goes up), less so if you are trying to bury it in blockwork. Nevertheless, the function and form is a million miles better than the conventional service valve.
