Absolutely fantastic album, also one of the best bands live!

A brilliant album, but confusingly Amazon have dropped the 'deluxe' suffix from the extended version. So as I write, there are now two seemingly identical albums available at the same price. Upon closer inspection however, you will note that one has 10 tracks whereas the other has 12. If the pricing is adjusted, then spend the money and buy the album with twelve tracks, as 'Alibis' and 'All this time' are well worth the extra spend. In terms of the rest of the album - if you like Kings of Leon, then you will definitely enjoy this band. I saw them live in Camden on the night that they launched the album, and they seriously rocked. If you get the chance to see them at any of the upcoming festivals then make the effort to check them out. There are no duff tracks on this album in my opinion, but the tracks 'All this time', 'Teenager' and 'Trouble on the Way' stand out as their stadium-pleasers. That said, you shouldn't write off the quieter material such as 'Alibis' as it just goes to show that they are not a one-trick pony.

I love finding new music and when I ran across Mona's frontman (Nick Brown) being all brash and cocky over their music, I was curious to hear them. What sticks with me the most after listening to Mona's first self-titled album is that they sound an awful lot like "Kings of Leon" but then I happen to like them so that influenced my grade of "B". Even though this album did not fulfill Brown's tremendous promise, it is a good bunch of pop / alt rock tunes. My top three songs were: 1) Listen to Love - still sounds good after a few listens 2) Lines In The Sand - here's the ballad song 3) Trouble On The Way - catchy faster paced tune with heavy shades of "Kings of Leon" and a favorite Time will tell if Mona becomes something more then sounds of another band but then don't most new bands get compared to others for reference? I hold out hope for more especially given the personality of Nick Brown.

Natürlich machen die Jungs es geschickt und leben die Rock N Roll Attitüde! Natürlich ist vieles von dem Marketing. Aber das Album macht einfach nur Spaß. An vielen Stellen fühlt man sich an alte Klassiker erinnert. Hier geht die Liste von Aerosmith, Guns N Roses bis hin zu neueren Sachen wie Kings of Leon und Gaslight Anthem. Das Ganze funktioniert aber wunderbar! Von schmachtigen Balladen bis hin zu krachigen Stadion-Rocksongs ist alles dabei. Und genau da gehören sie auch hin. Ich habe mir Mona gestern in Köln im Gebäude 9 (max. 300 Leute) angesehen und die Show war der absolute Knaller! Einen derartig fetten und klaren Live-Sound habe ich in dieser Größenordnung schon lange nicht mehr erlebt. Es war zu spüren, dass die Jungs viel Spaß haben, an dem was sie tun. Auch nach der Show waren sie greifbar und haben sich auf die Fans eingelassen. Zudem beherschen sie ihre Instrument und was Nick Brown mit seiner Stimme alles so anstellt ist atemberaubend. Der Typ kann aber mal singen! Und ein Spaßvogel mit gewisser Coolnees ist er auch noch. ABSOLUTE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG! Und unbedingt live geben!!!

Hab das o.g. seit einigen Tagen und hatte jetzt die Gelegenheit es im Auto zu hören... Vorschusslorbeeren ohne Ende, die Zukunft (oder Rettung?!) des Rock (mal wieder?)... komisch - die Band heisst nicht "The" Mona... Vergleiche mit U2 (ist das jetzt gut oder schlecht??). Also mein erster Eindruck: nichts besonderes! Das erste Stück kommt daher wie eine Mischung aus "Glasvegas" und den neueren "Killers" und wirkt für mich nicht recht authentisch (eher kalkuliert - ein Debütalbum bei ISLAND-Records ist für mich eher unsympathisch...). Auch der Rest plätschert eher daher ohne mich persönlich jetzt gross in Begeisterungsstürme hat ausbrechen lassen. Na gut - Ich will dem Album mal etwas Zeit geben, kann mich also noch korrigieren - aber vielleicht war's einfach die völlig überzogene Erwartungshaltung...
