Concrete Countertops Made Simple (Made Simple (Taunton Press))

Great book full of cracking ideas (pardon the pun lol)
Made myself a concrete countertop following reading this book and watching the dvd - beware the yanks use different terminology and types of material. Made shuttering added gfr and steel, loads of black dye, some pretty stones and some glitter. It was beautiful and I was proper smug. It cracked after 3 months and I nearly cried. Now I have no concrete countertop :(

A good place to start.
Interesting and informative, a good place to start. Don't expect all the answers especially on the decorative finishes.Prepare to make lots of smaller practice blocks to find a finish you want. The wet grinding and polishing is the most expensive part. Now need a book/ DVD on epoxy resin finishes,it will cut back on the grinding and polishing.

A Great Starter Book
Used in conjunction with other more academic approaches to concrete design and technical papers on various concrete materials, this is a great starter book. The DVD is especially useful in showing you what's achievable and although there are plenty of videos on the net from other sources, I don't believe this to be an undervalued extra.

Couldn't be simpler!
Excellent book, gives me a great insight into my next project and possibly my next business, may have to buy one of his other books to take me to the next stage.

NOT VERY GOOD
Anyone buying this book will most probably be looking for a list of materials and mix ratio's required to make their own worktops.Although there is some useful information on templating and mold making it's really just an advert for his own ready made concrete mixtures. I felt cheated and was mostly unimpressed with this book. NOT RECOMMENDED.
