Cochranes of Oxford Minit Organic/Inorganic Student Molecular Set

All bits in pack nothing missing, great price of kit for any bio chemistry student cheapest one too.

I am a first year Biochemistry student and bought this set to help me visualize some of the molecules we were learning about. I have found it to be particularly useful for understanding ring structures and enantiomers. There is a large number of atoms and bonds, though I would prefer some more flexible bonds.Some of the atoms fit very tightly into the bonds while a few are a bit loose.I was initially nervous about breaking the bonds, especially when snapping them apart (they come in a large block as shown in the image), but they seem quite robust.Finally, the packaging it comes in is sufficient to hold the atoms and bonds, but no good for organizing them. I have used a small box with dividers and found it really helps.

The kit has lots of different coloured atoms/ions so it is possible to build lots of thingsAlso alot of data about relative distances/ lengths for different types of bond and suitable straw/ connector lengths to represent this so a fair degree of accuracy seemed possiblehowever hen I used the straw like connectors they seemed to develop pale stretch marks leading me to wonder how many times theycould be taken apart and reused - hence the four. but so far so good

Love it

The Minit system is great if you just want to make a small permanent model for display. However the green tubes stretch and do fit well after use. The Orbit system from the same company is vastly superior.
