Good Idea poor Execution
This is a very useful tool to get things leveled out accurately and easily. That said, there are several issues with this tool.1.) The screws provided to mount the gauge base to the level will impede with the gauge when you try to attach it. They should have countersinked the backer plate on the base and provide screws that will sit flat when installed.2.) The magnet that is used in the Level is very weak and it DOES NOT hold the guard to the base firmly. If you use this with a larger / heavier level, the gauge starts popping out just from the weight of the level.3.) This should be 20 $ NOT 50$+. IF they want 50$ for it, it should be FLAWLESS which this one is NOT.If there is an alternative, go buy that one. Only buy this one IF you absolutely can't find an alternative, need level a LOT of things and can put up with the product deficiencies.

Good idea, but only 3 stars
I like the concept and hope that I justify the purchase over time. I am a little puzzled why they provided optional mounting screws because when you install them (apposed to just relying on the tape to hold this heavy unit on the end of something that will get bumped, slid in and out of a storage bag...not to mention that it sticks past the width of my Stabila about 1/8" and is likely to get caught on something), the little screws hit the main body assembly screws and the unit doesn't fit snug in the base. It rocks and since the magnet isn't super powerful. I'm afraid if I bump it the head/measuring unit will fall off.I removed the screws and tried filing the tops, but I would have to take then down so far it removes the cross for the screw driver. All that work and thought going into the idea and it seems like they didn't test fit with the secondary mount screws...maybe next version????

Poor design
What the videos don't show, is the mounting screws interfere with screws on the unit, making that option unavailable. The adhesive doesn't hold up well to constant use and the adapter begins twisting and pulling away from the level. And you only get one adapter. So when the adhesive option doesn't work, you'll have to scrap it all off to try the screw option - which doesn't work. The idea is good, but I doubt any of the engineers actually used the product.

Great little invention
This product can save you a lot of grief When trying to find the difference in level over 4 feet

Huge advantage over trying to measure with a tape and really just guessing.
A remarkable tool. Utterly brilliant. Saw it on YouTube and was impressed. In real-life, it is of excellent quality and solves a constant problem.

Plan on fabrication
The screw heads keep the gauge and adapter from sitting flush like it should causing it to be loose.

WARNING!!! Excellent tool but purchase from the howfarout website directly!
I purchased the FastCap level gauge from Amazon with a fulfillment by JB Tools and received a defective product. I went to the howfarout website and contacted them for support. Michael Schuler (the creator) contacted me immediately and helped me with understanding the problem and mailing me a replacement free of charge right away. I now have the replacement and set it up with no problems.JB Tools has or at least had one of the OLD DEFECTIVE inventory, while howfarout carries only the NEW NON DEFECTIVE inventory. Hopefully people can see this and avoid the hassle because the tool is worth the price.Just want to say thanks again to Michael Schuler. He went above and beyond with his customer support during a time where it feels like you're constantly bounced around different departments of a company without ever having the issue resolved. Thanks again Mike.
