Discovered the shakti mat concept on Facebook but the "original" company sells them at £60+... This is really efficient for me to get rid of back muscle stiffness after swimming. I just wish it was bigger to cover other areas like the arm or be able to go up the traps and still do the back of the legs, ideally would love it to cover the calves too but that will be an issue with all the models available it seems. All in all a great product, for half the price of the supposedly original one... I used it bare skin, takes a couple of minutes to get comfy and feel the warmth arrive in the muscles, really efficient and it helped me get a better sleep quality too. I am now thinking to buy another one for extra surface coverage.

Tried this as I get some back pain/muscle soreness.Use a thin shirt first! Just to get used to it but after you are used to it becomes very odd....like from pain to a warm feeling to being so comfortable I fell asleep.I like the travel bag with this although thin and cheap it gives you a way to store this neatly and the spiked pillow is a nice addition meaning I can set this up anywhere in my house where there is floor space.So would I recommend yes it seems odd and people in my work laughed when I had it delivered but it has become part of my ritual to help de-stress easy five stars

Great mat, takes a while to get used to.I can fall asleep on mine now.Helps me with chronic nerve pain and fibromyalgia.Could do with being wider and longer for me as want it to do my arms and calves at the same time. I use it when I don't want to be hooked up to both my Tens machines or take pain relief meds. It works in a similar way by disrupting the pain signals.

Haven’t used it enough to comment on pain relief and support which is the only reason I have give those categories 1 star. In terms of comfort, it isn’t designed to be comfortable as it’s covered with plastic spikes you lie across. However, after a short time of getting use to the unusual feeling it is surprisingly comfortable. That’s not to say it won’t give you a hell of a surprise if you leave it out and step on it in the night

Based on some of the bad reviews, I was a bit worried about the item I would receive but honestly, the mat is really well made and once I got over the initial discomfort of the spikes I found it made a great difference on my back. I was comfortable lying on the mat for 50 minutes and felt a huge improvement on my back aches and tensions. The item arrived very quickly too with instructions. Very happy with my purchase.

This takes a while to get used to using, but 2months on and I am really feeling the benefit. It really does help with pain and I feel more energised, and also sleep better. Would recommend to anyone who wants an alternative to taking lots of meds
