would they work for thicker thighs?

Depends on the size of the product itself. This product has a size chart. If you are within the One Size weight, but have thicker thighs then the most it'll cover would be the lower half of your thigh (for me it is just above the kneecap). Also, the elasticity where the double stripes are is very strong so you won't have to worry about it slipping off if you're doing any physical activity, but that can change with wear&tear / washing it incorrectly / brute forcing it.

are they very elastic? My daughter is very skinny.

They are ok, they are your typical costume quality

I just received the black w/white stripes socks. As pictured, they have a contrasting (white) heel & toe. Do all other colors have this?

Think the black and maybe white pairs are the only ones with contrasting heel and toe.
