Great product - great support
I'm now on my second unit of this product after the original unit arrived with a fault, however it took me 5 months to realise the fault. Ever since I received the original unit it would disconnect from my computer at the slightest touch / movement, which at first I accepted and worked around however after being able to compare it with a friends unit I realised it was a fault specifically with my unit where the USB cable couldn't be fully inserted into the USB port. I therefore contacted Samsung support as soon as I realised this. I'm not going to mark down my rating of the product based on this because of the following: 1. As someone who works for a company that designs hardware products I know all too well that occasionally, through no fault of anyone, hardware components fail. 2. Samsung support fixed the problem quickly and easily. Within three days of contacting support the unit was on its way to a service centre in The Netherlands, and within a week a replacement unit arrived back with me, with all shipping arranged and payed for by Samsung. I've never owned any other SSD to compared this one to, however I've had no (other) issues or dislikes with the product. It's surprisingly small and light but feels sturdy, and much faster and more reliable than the HDD it's replaced. I can't comment on the included software as this is no use to me so I have not used it. I would happily purchase this again if needed - I actually plan to replace all of my external HDD's with these when I can.

Fast as lightening
AWESOME, so fast. like lightening. I use this with a Black Magic 6K camera and it has never failed me yet. The data transfer to a MacBook Pro is really fast. 100% recommend.

Best Mini drives on the Market right now
I use these drives all the time for work as I work in TV production, so I'm always backing up and transferring footage of large files after shoots, or needing to send these drives with footage on to editors. They are great because they are so small so can be posted easily which is key for remote working, hold a lot of storage for their size, and maybe most useful for me is that combined with the USB Type C to C cable (which they come with) can transfer large files very quickly compared to a lot of other drives. For example copying files of around 300-500GB only usually takes 10-20 minutes with these whereas with other drives I've used this can take hours. Overall they are a bit pricey but well worth it, also I haven't had any issues with any of these crashing and we have around 20 and so I've just bought one for personal use as well.

Amazingly sleek little SSD that powers past the competition
I have both the Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD and the Samsung T5 as I store a lot of backups of videos and photos of my holidays. I bought the Sandisk a while ago as it was the cheaper of the two and I was thoroughly impressed by its read write speeds. I could download whole collections of videos and photos in minutes and it was through and through all I needed. It was rugged and could withstand shocks with its rubber body along with dust and some water. When I needed more storage, i looked to the Samsung T5. I had seen quite a few reviews comparing the two and was always of the impression that they were comparable with no real difference. Whilst that is mostly true of its read write speed which I have found to be very similar, the Samsung T5 does power past in a couple of main ways. - The body of the T5 is much sleeker and akin to something that Apple has designed. If aesthetic is important to you - then the T5 will probably be what you want. - It has a smaller form factor - again aesthetically this is pleasing and easier to store than the Sandisk - It does not give off as much heat as the Sandisk which is important when transferring many files. I found the Sandisk to heat up after 5-10 minutes of transfer whilst the T5 stayed cool the whole time. Overall, if I were to purchase again, i would probably get two T5s rather than one of each!

Decent USB SSD but expensive and not the most portable
I'm a big fan of Samsung SSD drives and have bought several of them over the years. I think you do end up paying more for them than alternative brands but you do tend to get a quality product with decent performance, TBW rating and warranty. I was in the market for a larger USB drive that I could use between my PC and laptop to store large files and also a Steam downloads folder. There's a few options available at the moment but in the end it was between this Samsung T5 and the SanDisk Extreme. I read in a few places that the SanDisk gets very hot, even when not being heavily used and that always worries me with computer components as it will inevitably reduce the lifespan of the product and that made my decision quite easy. The Samsung T5 is quite small (slightly smaller than a regular 2.5" drive) and has a matte aluminium casing. It has no method of attaching it to a key ring or clip and also requires a cable to connect it to your devices. You are provided with both USB 3 to USB Type-C and a USB Type-C to Type-C cables but it's something else you need to carry around with the drive if you want to take it around with you. It's a shame Samsung didn't supply a little pouch or carry case for this drive, especially considering the price point. Performance wise the drive is pretty good. It's not quite as fast as a directly connected SATA SSD but for a USB 3 device it's pretty quick, especially when compared to regular USB memory sticks however, in my (limited) testing it is not quite as quick as a Samsung EVO 860 connected via USB 3. It comes provided with drive encryption software for Windows which is really simple to use and seems to work OK. If you are not storing sensitive data on the drive or are permanently attaching it to your computer then you don't need to use the software at all. Overall I'm happy with the drive but you can make your own USB 3 2.5" SSD drive for much less money which will be physically slightly larger in size but more or less just as convenient as this Samsung T5. Pros: - Made by Samsung who make some of the best SSD drives - Small form factor SSD - Aluminium casing gives the product a premium feel - Plenty of capacity (2TB) - Doesn't run hot - Decent performance over USB 3 Cons: - Expensive - No carry case or pouch provided - Can't be attached to a key ring or clip - Requires cables to be carried around with it
