Not my chem but an amazing album
As a massive fan of my chemical romance i bought this album pretty much on the fact its mcr's lead singer. But once i heard it i fell in love again, its true its not the same as the my chem albums but there are aspects of his previous works, i have had this album around 2 months and i listen to it every morning and while i do my course work. my favorite song has to be Brother which i love, if your looking for a solution to my chemical romance this is not it. BUT THIS IS AN AMAZING album anyway. only thing is the case is designed like a record sleeve which personally i don't like as them the corners get squashed and doesn't stay in brilliant condition.

As an avid MCR fan I eagerly awaited this solo album. I had listened to some of the tracks on you tube and wasn't sure if the cd was going to be good but I actually really like it and would love to see it performed live. There are parts of songs that are reminiscent of previous MCR songs and it's good to hear that little bits. I think it's a good first album and no doubt there will be many more which I will buy.

The old MCR stuff was great, they had reached a height of wide acceptance when they headlined Reading festival in 2011 and they could have carried on for years in a similar vain, with small tweaks as the band continued to mature and develop. Its a brave step to relinquish a successful formula and to re-invent yourself; but this latest period of Gerard Ways passion for music is equally awesome. There are some elements of the MCR days that you can still pick out, but these are subtle influences and they are probably more indicative of the musical style of Gerard Way as a singer than being MCR carry overs. His new found direction is both appealing and invigorating.

Good but I expected more.
I was really excited when I heard Action Cat for the first time, it was so beautiful and perfect and everything I didn't know I wanted form Gerard Way. After reading a few snippets of press from Gerard where he talked about his fuzzy guitars and brit pop influences I got really excited to hear his new album. Sadly I was disappointed when I listened to it for the first time. It just didn't flow for me. Many of the songs reminded me of other artists*, and didn't hold up to the comparison, which was distracting.I have since listened to it a few times and it has definitely grown on me, I have found myself singing some of the songs to myself, which is always a good sign.Overall it is a good collection of songs, and I would recommend it to MCR fans, and indeed anyone who enjoys guitar music, it's pretty accessible. I think Gerard is still experimenting with his sound, and I am hopeful that his next album will make me feel the way Action Cat did.*Blur, Echobelly, Neutral Milk Hotel, Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream, and of course MCR sprang immediately to mind.

gerards homage to brett?
Loved this cd but it does take bout 4 or 5 listens to get into as it's so different to Mcr this is a great debut and very brave of Gerard to take such a departure from his usual style, it smacks heavily of Britpop in the 90s especially Suede in fact he sounds very like Brett Anderson on some songs and there's a nod to Pet shop Boys on some tracks I would really recommend this cd to anyone it's a great listen
