If only...
As I was reading this tale of how the past four years might have gone if the President had been a Republican, but someone in some ways obviously different than President Trump, it occurred to me that hard as it was to be a Republican president in the book, it was even harder in real life. The author did a good job of explaining the above-board problems of an angry opposition party and media. But it still glossed over things like government agencies spying at an almost-Stazi level, multiple impeachments, dozens of politically-inconvenient people mysteriously dying, massive ballot fraud that can't even be investigated due to a bigger-and-deeper-than-anyone-had-ever-dreamed swamp of D.C. denizens who like their perks and will do anything to keep them, let alone hidden groups who have tried to run the world for many centuries. In short, the unlikely President faced incredible odds and opposition in implementing his twelve word campaign promise, but almost entirely did so (leaving room for a sequel about a second term implementing the last two words of the promise.) But in real life these days, it would be even harder to do, and with even worse odds of success.I particularly liked the lead character, and how he and his wife lived as devoted but quiet followers of Jesus of Nazareth, especially as that related to a young secular Jew reporter who opposed them bitterly and stupidly at first, but came to respect them once he got to know them personally.Definitely recommended!

Doing the right thing is never easy ... ask the President
Stephen Palmer gives us a behind the scene glimpse of what politics is like today (It’s not pretty) … and what serving as President could be IF -------.It takes courage to do the “right thing” and most of the time it’s not popular. The Unlikely President has a choice. Will he cave to the status quo to get re-elected or will he stick to his 12 word campaign promises/goals, his faith, and insight of his wife.If you read The Unlikely Candidate, you won’t be able to put this one down either. If not, buy both today. You’ll thank me.

A great follow-up to The Unlikely Candidate
A powerful, informative, and entertaining page-turner about a man of integrity leading our nation to positive change, while maintaining his character in adversity. A great follow-up to The Unlikely Candidate.

Liking "The Unlikely"!!
I was provided an advance copy of this manuscript and I loved it. Very entertaining. Great insight on SO many political topics… and with a positive message of faith to boot. It’s a reminder of how far away we have gotten from sanity (and faith) in our country!!! I thought the author shows great restraint in avoiding getting TOO deep into the weeds of political back-and-forth… and instead expounds on the personalities that are highlighted so well.Much like the first novel in the series, Ackerman is a man that the reader can appreciate and cheer on to success. The story arc is solid and flows well, the theme is clear, and the politics are understandable (even for a novice like me!)… it's an easy read… the story kept me eager to move forward.Really, really great job! Will Ackerman’s second term be the third book in the trilogy?!

Whew - that was a page turner!
I was able to get my hands on an advance copy of the 2nd book in this series b/c I like the first so much. The 2nd was no disappointment and read it in the course of an afternoon on my back porch. I love the intellectual, political, and even Biblical aspects driving the story line. I wish I could vote in real life for Jeff Ackerman! A must read!

Couldn’t put it down.
I read an advance copy of The Unlikely President and I absolutely couldn’t put it down. As the reluctant hero tackles the challenges of correcting our broken nation, I got a first-rate education on the effectiveness of conservative politics. This is a “must read” book for anyone who wants to understand why they believe what they believe. And it’s a lot of fun, too.
