Tony Carr: A Lifetime in Football at West Ham United

A really enjoyable book
Having supported West Ham since the 1970's it was fascinating to benefit from Tony's insight on the players who became England internationals and the other players who went on to have a career in the lower leagues. The interaction with the different managers, particularly John Lyall, the way Tony describes John confirms what a great man he was. I also enjoyed the various interviews with players Tony coached (Rio, Mark Noble, Joe Cole etc) and the journey Tony took from failing one of his first coaching exams to help produce and develop so many great players, a lesson to us all. A must read for hammers fans and anyone who enjoys football coaching at all levels

What a fantastic insight in to the club
This man is Mr West Ham and this book is a must read. Not only for West Ham fans but all football fans as it gives a real insight in to then progression from young apprentices to first team players and in some cases England internationals and captains ! You will not be disappointed.

Forced into buying for a football fan…
It gets one star because it kept football nutty family member quiet for the time it took to read at least!
