Miniart Quality.
I do enjoy 1/16 scale kit, whether its figures or armour such as the amazing Trumpeter range which I have built many of but sadly many 1/16 figures even by manufacturers such as Tamiya have some major fit issues, a lot of sanding, filling and tedious clean up is required to get a good result but this figure went together very well. Its an interesting subject rather than my usual WW2 kits and was very challenging to paint, there is a lot of skin on show and being Italian a slight sun tanned look felt necessary and there is a lot of polished steel to replicate. It does have a decal for the pattern on his shield or you can paint it on if youre brave, I painted it, was not overly happy so cleaned it up and used the decal, it looks great.Good quality kit with easy instructions at a good price.

worth the extra effort
I have read the reviews on this, but to be honest as lover of figure modeling and in particular the roman period, i found this model had plenty of detail although in some cares it did require refining. i read the grumbles of how poor the parts fit, but for me filling and rubing parts to fit is part of the enjoyment. if your any sort of model maker you will not be deturbed by little extra work. the trick with the transfer is to slide from the backing paper to the sheild and then position carefully, do not lift it in one peace as it will fold in on its self. The effort is worth while so have go!

Good Kit, Some effort required on assembly
Glad I purchased, acknowledge the lack of assembly instructions per se - but it's relatively simple to figure out, the real fun will be some mild sanding and fettling to get the components to fit along the join lines! But overall very happy with the kit, the scale, the level of detail and the fact you get a nice decal for the shield to really set him off. Might treat myself to a Hoplite next! (And I know he is supposed to be blue, but couldn't refrain!)

Two Stars
Poor casting requies better detail and a lot of filling / sanding

For the only one on the market, it’s fine...
I’m a very seasoned modelled, with thousands of builds to my name, and to be honest, this kit wasn’t the best. No instructions are included (fine for me; a newbie would find it impossible); there is a lot of flaring on many of the parts, and at detailed points too, making trimming and sanding difficult without losing too much detail. The fit of the parts is appalling - my legionary ended up with a gaping gash running down both legs and what looked like an amateur face transplant. For such a niche market, it’ll do (I challenge you to find any other affordable Roman figures in an scale..!), but overall it ranks quite low on my list of builds.
