MXR Distortion+
The MXR Distortion+ is a well manufactured rugged unit that conforms to the 'normal' size footprint that means it can be tucked into a crowded pedal bag while still being run off a battery,if that's how you roll.It comes with push on rubber flanges that cover the knobs and make on the fly adjustments with a foot a piece of cake. Now then, the sound. If you are looking for Big Muff style fuzz then move along,Pilgrim. Nothing for you here. If, however, you are seeking a sweet, biting tone to add definition to an already overdriven signal, then come on in, set a spell. Have a scone. This pedal will give you bags of sustain to your dirty signal and also cause your lead notes to soar and swoop, like a Raptor falling on its prey. It gives plenty of volume boost and dialling in the Distortion pot produces a distinct change in the character of your tone. The nature of the distortion circuit produces a wide spectrum of sound that rewards experiment with tone settings. For example, I get completely different dirty tones from my gain channel on my amp than I get when I engage my Rothwell Tornado before the MXR. That is exactly what you need in a gig. Different tones for different songs! It will give Blues Tones a shiny new edge to them and if, like me, you lean towards Rock. Then Randy Rhodes used one of these pedals constantly. So no worries about depth of dirt there. In short then; This is a well made,Well designed pedal that is exactly what a lead player needs on his board. What it is designed to do it does with aplomb. I can add that MXR has the best support team I have ever spoken with. It's obvious they love their involvement with the product and will always go the extra mile to help you out.Highly recommended .

Great distortion pedal
Great distortion pedal, does what you would expect for a good quality MXR product. Built well and easy to adjust output and distortion when playing thanks to the rubber knob attachments that come with it. Recommend to all.

Good piece of gear
I have only used this with a TT303 (TB303 clone), so i cant speak for how it sounds with guitars. My first impression is that its quite heavy and seems very robust. One of the four screws holding the back plate is protruding a bit so its not resting flat on the table or floor but i fixed that with some felt pads. Its easy to use, just plug in your gear and then adjust the two knobs to get some distortion. It really makes the 303 whistle, squeal and scream, which is exactly what i wanted. I do sometimes wish that the distortion knob could be turned a bit more up. It has quite a strong hum when the output knob is on max, but it sounds nice and clean otherwise, so boost your volume before it reaches this box if you dont want that. When the distortion is added, the sound does lose some bass and treble, making the sound a bit muffled. The loss of bass can be a bit annoying, as the 303 doesnt have that much of it already when resonance is up and the filter is open. Its not exactly a problem though, and i see it more as a personality trait for this little box and not as an issue. Its made for guitars anyway.Overall i am satisfied, but 70 quid is a lot for a tiny box with very few features.

Save your money, plenty of decent distortion pedals out there...
Bought this based on a video review, put it on my pedal board, spent an hour playing with it, took it off my board, put it back in the box where it has stayed ever since. This is neither one thing nor the other, distortion sound is terrible and as a booster it makes everything thick and noisy. One of the biggest mistakes of my guitar playing life.
