10BIIPLUS/B12 Financial Calculator, Black

Needed a replacement calculator for my work as a financial advisor, as well as to do some further professional exams and projects. The calculator seems light in weight and would be easy to carry in a suit pocket. I probably won't bother to use the soft plastic case that came with it, as it seems slightly awkward and most likely isn't necessary in reasonable and responsible day to day use. The calculator feels robust and well made and I would expect it to be good for years of use in a professional environment. The keys are clear and operate with precision. Their various functions are easy to see and work out. It seems easy to use and the quick start manual answers most questions straight off - there is also a full manual available on disk (and online from HP) if needed. Off the record there is also a good image of the calculator available from iTunes, so you can replicate the calculator and most of its functions on your iPad or iPhone if required, which is a boon professionally if you are with a client or in a meeting and you realise the calculator is at home or in the car but you have your iPad or iPhone.... The most significant thing about this, whether HP promote it or not, is that you can use the same calculator and work method across several platforms seamlessly. Time / value for money calculations, such as mortgage repayments, 'what if' scenarios and amortization seem quick and easy to carry out and are in fact a little quicker and easier in most cases that the manual tells you, as often the clearing of specific memories or setting of number of payments per year isn't necessary (that being said, when you need them or just have to be sure, the ability to clear specific memories or set payments per year to something other than 12 is invaluable. Everything seems to work as it should, in a clear and efficient way and there are no obvious eccentricities in regard to how you input data. I could easily imagine this is an instrument that you could 'grow into' in that it certainly looks as if you could use it for more and more advanced levels of work as time went on. I made a trivial error the first time I used the calculator and managed to blank the display having set off a complex calculation but a quick press of the reset button inside the battery compartment sorted it out perfectly. Delivery was quick and on time, despite what I suspect might have been a heavy workload on a busy Saturday. In summary the calculator is light but solid, easy to use and will grow with you to the most advanced levels.

This was purchased for use at work and is easy to use, light, easy to read the digits and has many functions.

This calculator is just right for the jobs I need it to do.

I bought this as it was required for the FRM exam. After following some tutorials online to set it up properly (decimal places, time periods, order of operations) it worked fine and got me through the exam. I would advise practicing with the calculator as the location of the buttons and functions is quite different to Casios that are used more normally. The bond pricing/yield calculating function also takes some getting used to. It is a bit pricey, and I would prefer if it had the formula in-line on screen fully, like the Casios do, but otherwise I can't grumble.

The order came very quickly and was well packaged. The calculator does exactly what I need it to and provides a good level of support and guidance in the instructions. I’m using the calculator for an exam and find it very easy to use once you know the formulas. Quick. Easy and reliable.

I bought it as alternative to my HP 17bll+. The 10BII+ is not on the same range as it is a very simple and basic calculator which does work in "inverted polarity" mode. I should have read more carefully. It does the job.

I purchased this calculator on the back of the previous reviewer's comment about his purchase for the CII exams. I found this calculator really good and easy to use with a bit of help from the user manual. Although originally purchased for exam use, I envisage being able to use this in my day to day work as an alternative to spreadsheets.
