Best urban carry
Victorinox quality is second to none. This is my third version and I absolutely love it, the tools are used daily and I think the excellent scissors get the most use. The in-line Phillips screwdriver works well on a variety of sizes. Fitted Plus scales for the pen and added the glasses screwdriver and all in all it earns its place as an everyday carry item.

Outstanding quality
Very good quality product. The build is solid, and the blades are sharp. Some of the tools are a bit hard to pull out, but I'm sure they'll loosen up with use.

Almost perfect but?
The Victorinox explorer is a great SAK for edc ! The model has almost the perfect tool set for me if only for the addition of a file blade was included I would use this every day and forget the other models I own! Top quality products from this company as always have been! Nobody makes pocket knives like Victorinox, with this level of quality in a mass production its astonishing I've had countless dozens over the four decades and never had a duff yet! Prices are going silly in the world and sadly Victorinox have had too as well but you can still buy good here on Amazon at well below rrp . What ever you pay you are getting a supreme product that will last for decades and so become value for money! Just beware some models lock in the larger series so non legal carry even though its a swiss army knife! No such problem with explorer and the blade is below 3 inch also. Highly recommended model if you want a Philips screwdriver and a handy magnifier lense.

the scissors are indespensible and i like to have a good crosshead screwdriver on there which ...
I have a dozen various Victorinox knives from the tiny classic to the bulky work champ ,they are always top quality and i would never want to be without one in my pocket ,i chose this explorer model simply because it had all the tools i use the most without all the bulk and weight of the more comprehensive models ,the scissors are indespensible and i like to have a good crosshead screwdriver on there which is excellent ,sometimes this is in place of the corkscrew but i like to drink wine so this has the advantage of the corkscrew being in the usuall place on the back and the screwdriver being located on the same side as the main tools and blade ,this means you can have the crosshead and flathead screwdrivers folded out at opposite ends at same time and use them in that way ,very handy when fixing or taking things appart with different screw types ,magnifier is a handy thing too at my age.Everything you will ever need in S.A.K without the bulk in your pocket ,invest in the opional small screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew and there is a hole to locate a pin behind the corkscrew too .I wish the main blade was lockable but that would make it illegal to carry in the U.K. my advice would be get a seperate locking knife for the heavier jobs like cutting wood etc the Victorinox Forester is my choice for this job which also comes with a locking flat blade screwdriver and long saw blade but keep it in your pack or loose it. The Explorer is my new best friend ,keep them clean and don't abuse them they will last a lifetime how many things can you say that about ? This was the best price too and was delivered super fast.

The perfect balance
I have had the Swiss Champ for decades but to be honest it is too big and heavy to put in your trouser pocket or hang on a belt. This little beauty has all of the tools I use the most but is smaller (narrower)and lighter and as such won't start pulling your trousers down as a result. I now believe this to be the best knife not only in the Swiss Army range but of any comparable manufacturer. Take it on a picnic and the small and large knives are perfect for peeling and slicing and you can open a bottle of plonk or a bottle of beer thanks to the corkscrew and cap lifter. For on the spot maintenance jobs there is a large and a small flat-head screwdriver together with a cross-head one too - these will cover most situations and I've used them for situations above what they were probably designed for and they are still perfect. I can't tell you how many times those scissors have come in handy, and the reamer is always being used as a bradle. Admittedly I don't recall using the hook though. In the recess for the corkscrew you will find a tiny hole for adding a pin - together with the supplied tweezers and magnifying glass you'll be able to remove all splinters. Don't forget to buy the tiny screwdriver that inserts into the corkscrew (about £3.00) and then together with the magnifying glass you can make on the spot repairs to your glasses. Really what more do you need? My Swiss champ has proved far more durable than my Leatherman so I expect the Explorer to fair the same, indeed I found a Swiss army knife on a beach once, it was smashed and completely jammed with stones and grit - I freed it up and the blades were still sharp and not a hint of rust was evident, if only other makes were as durable! Buy one and you will be using it more than you would have imagined - this is one purchase you won't regret.

Excellent quality
I lost my old knife after many years and it took me very little time to get another one, same model, because I felt lost without it. Used several times a day from opening bottles and cans to elements of gardening.: taking cuttings, trimming, cutting string etc. etc., hacking parcels open, undoing screws of all types. This model has many of the basics found on most Victorinox knives. They all stand up well to the sort of abuse that would wreck lesser makes. I particularly wanted the little hand lens because I have an interest in natural history and not everything is large. The one caution: treat the plastic lens with a little caution because it is plastic and so can be scratched.
