Good quality pastels in a wide range of colours
I have recently started using soft pastels in my art class and bought this set to use. These were lovely pastels in a wide selection of colours. I found them easy to use and easy to blend. I bought gadgets which I used to blend the colours and these were very helpful - easier and less messy than using your fingers. I also bought pastel pencils to use when more exact lines/edging was required and found that the 2 items worked really well together so would recommend this to other beginners. A good buy overall.

Wee soft pastels
Nice and a multi pack. Loads of different colours. Did the job and have them safe for the next art project

Beautifully colours, blend smoothly and seemlessly
Amazing value for money! I had only used pastels once before, got one in with a set. I wanted to give it a go and was so impressed with how beautifully and smoothly they blend together. You can get an array of textures and different colours blends with these. The only thing is that they are quite small but after a few little sketches I actually really liked the size of them as they break less easily than the full length ones I used before. Attached a picture of a piece I'm currently working on. Used a lot of the more neutral tones for this. The other colours are very vibrant but can be dulled down if desired Highly recommend

Great value and excellent colour selection
These are excellent pastels and the colours are great. I have used various brands over the years and these are great value and good quality. You can pay a lot more, though I don't think you need to. I like this brand as they are not too crumbly and it's worth getting them over cheaper brands which are often crumbly and hard. The range of colours is great and this is what I was looking for. This is important in pastels as you can't mix them in the same way as paints. The only reason I put four rather than five stars for beginners is that some beginners prefer a small set with fewer colours as a first set.

What a great find.
I bought this set of pastels for myself for Christmas, thinking I'd use them when I'm out and about, for quick sketches. I didn't paint with them until today, and I was blown away by the great colours and how relatively soft they are. I expected something good enough only for underpainting, but they are soft enough and the colours are great enough to do a whole painting. Obviously, they're not as good as (for instance) Senneliers, and they aren't what I'd call finishing pastels (for highlights, etc), but if you want a cheap set of half-sticks, especially if you're a beginner curious about this medium, these are ideal for less than thirteen quid.
