Very impressive product - easy to use and awesome performance
I purchased this so I could essentially backup/restore 2.5" SATA hard disks. It was especially useful for upgrading one of the harddisks on my laptop which fortunately had a USB 3 port to gain the massive performance benefits to be had. When the product arrived I was quite pleased at the overall look of of the packaging and the product itself. I've not seen many products where the cable is coiled up into a foam insert but they have done that here and it actually looks quite cool. It's a nice touch and clearly more expensive to manufacture than just shipping it coiled up and thrown in a brown box or stuffed in a clear plastic bag, The USB to SATA adapter itself seems quite well made and will hopefully last a while. It's not something that I will use every day - more likely once every so often so it will live in my PC spares box until it services are required again! Some users may be quite happy permanently attaching it to their PC or laptop with an SSD attached, especially if they haven't got the physical space in their system. The device was completely plug and play in Windows 10 and no additional driver software was required. It really was as simple as plugging in a USB memory stick and the partitions on the drive were detected straight away. I performed a couple of benchmarks with this adapter and was incredibly impressed with the results. A 7200K RPM HGST hard disk was nearly as quick as it is when connected to the SATA port in the laptop, reaching 134 MB/s read which is less than 10 MB/s less than direct SATA (the 4K values were roughly the same, although marginally less). When connecting up a Samsung EVO 860 1TB I was pretty much blown away by the adapter's performance for a USB device. Admittedly it's about 100 MB/s slower than when connected directly to a SATA port but at up to 448 MB/s it is nearing the bandwidth limit of USB 3 and is very impressive indeed. I also tested the Samsung EVO 860 1TB using a USB 2.0 port and it's clear that this USB adapter is maxing out that type of port. For the price this is an absolute bargain and offers incredible performance on both USB 2 and USB 3. If you're the sort of person that ever upgrades laptops then you definitely need this product in your arsenal. PC users will probably just plug a new drive into their PC to clone it but if you have no SATA ports left then this is the perfect solution. Very impressed with the product. I hope it does me proud again the next time I get it out the spares box!

Super and lasted ages
Had for years! And still works flawlessly, connects super easily and is very durable. Used it many times, only thing is to remember to not use the power supply if you are connecting it to an SSD as it won't work with it plugged in

Simple, Reliable SATA to USB Adapter That Just Works
A really practical adapter that does exactly what it’s designed for, with only minor drawbacks. I used the SABRENT SATA to USB adapter to recover data from both 2.5” and 3.5” SATA drives. Setup was completely plug and play on Windows with no drivers required. It recognised every drive immediately, including an older HDD that I wasn’t confident would still be readable. In terms of stability, the connection stayed consistent throughout use with no dropouts or disconnects during transfers, which gave confidence when moving important files. Transfer speeds over USB 3.0 were solid for HDDs, making it reliable for backups, recovery work, and general access. Its versatility is a strong point — it works across different SATA drive sizes and types without any configuration needed, making it useful for anyone dealing with mixed or older drives. The material and build are fairly basic, with a lightweight plastic housing and simple cable design. It feels more functional than premium, but it doesn’t affect performance in practice. Overall, it’s a dependable, straightforward tool that offers strong stability and versatility, even if the materials are on the simpler side.

Saved my pc from a new motherboard
So basically I trashed the pins on the input for the SSD via it's says cable, and so I couldn't use that, now I had two options, new motherboard (very expensive) or SATA to usb, you can guess what I went for, and now yeah, it works perfectly, super easy to set up on this side (bios was a bitch but it's fine now), and it's as fast as it was before. 10/10 would recommend

Versatile - Does what it claims to do
Happy with this product, does exactly what it advertises to do. Allows me to connect a 2.5", 3.5" SATA drives, as well as 2.5" & M.2 SSDs. Smart bit of kit which has been well designed. Worth knowing that my 3.5" HDD did not spin up immediately after connecting - after some googling, I had to change the sequence that I was connecting the power and USB. If you're having the same issue, try this power sequence: Plug the 12V adapter into the wall and then into the Sabrent dock. Insert the HDD firmly into the SATA slot. Connect the USB cable to your computer. Flip the Power Switch on the Sabrent unit to ON. After following this sequence, it worked without issue.

Does its job really well
I bought this Sata adapter to format my new SSD before installing in my laptop. It did the job wonderfully and was very quick in operation. Used it in Linux Mint using Gparted The connection between the SSD and the adapter is nice and snug and won't just come off if you knock it. I also used it with an old HDD I had and it worked a treat there too, using it as a storage backup for my files. Would I recommend it? Yes, it's a really well made, works fast making it really good value for money 👍👍👍👍👍

I bought the Sabrent EC-SS31 1.5" SATA hard drive/SSD to USB 3.1 adapter to clone the internal 128GB SATA SSDs on three Dell 9020M Optiplexes to new Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSDs at work. The cable came with a USB-C adapter, which I did not use. The end of the year is always busy for our company. We find out if we can buy new toys, how much we get to spend, and push to get it all in before year-end for taxes. This year forced us from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but did not scream, "new computers". Instead the orders were "make what we have better and longer-lived". Wow. We put these boxes in service in December 2012. I had expected to replace them in 2017 but they've performed flawlessly. We maxed out the onboard RAM at the end of 2018. Now increasing storage was key to make this all work — unfortunately I had zero experience cloning drives. Oh, goody. After extensive research I decided to go with the Samsung 860 EVO 1-TB drives to replace the strained 128GB SSDs in the boxes. Reviews, spec tests, etc., all showed the 860 EVO to be superior in all respects regardless of size and 1-TB should give us ample head room for the next 5-7 years as actual data storage is served by a NAS. The userbenchmark.com site was invaluable for this. Having nailed that down the next step was how to connect the drive. The reviews I read here and elsewhere (including the site above) all indicated there were many makers of cabling, but Sabrent kept popping up over-and-over again as successful, no issues, well made, solid, dependable, etc. Shopping sowed pries all over the map, but the only maker that consistently performed well was Sabrent, regardless of price. That's why I elected Sabrent even though it was definitely not the cheapest. The last piece of the puzzle was the software. This was a real challenge, it seems everyone has their own favorite but they all had horror stories and "fixes" that mostly work — usually by hobbyists and gamers. Accronis was well thought of and available from Sabrent. Samsung also makes software specifically for this purpose that is free for use on their drives. That limits the reviews about Samsung's software, but what reviews existed were rock solid. Once I was done I had budgeted for the drives, the cable, the software as a purchase and three days of project time. I figured each machine would be down for anywhere from 3-8 hours. I was so wrong! The Dell's had 128GB Samsung SATA SSDs in them. The Sabrent cable hooked up perfectly. The free Samsung software was sophisticated, polished, easy, flawless, smooth, and fast. I mean really fast. The first box, which I expected to take 4-5 hours including unattended down time just doing the transfer, took 30-minutes including physically swapping the drives after the transfer was done. The transfer itself took under 10-minutes. The only reason that worked was because the Sabrent cable performed flawlessly.

This is a great little kit, especially because it comes with the USB-A to USB-C adapter, perfect for my laptop and other newer devices that don't have the larger USB-A ports. The cable and adapter worked perfectly with a full 10gbit link established for fast data transfer to my MacBook Pro.
