Typical La Cie quality
Typical La Cie quality. Better than the new model as they have removed the front ports.

It's heavy, appears to be a typically well-built LaCie drive.
So far nothing to dislike. It's very quiet, nicely designed, and if you're a Mac owner, it's plug and play. If I had one complaint, it would be that there is a very large (5/8ths inch) blue light on the front that's on 24/7. If there is a way to turn it off, I haven't found it. When the machine is sleeping, the big light blinks slowly, but steadily. It can be a bit irritating, but nothing I can't live with. If it really gets to be a problem, I'll just put a piece of electrician's tape over it. This is a big drive with tons of capacity. I am a professional photographer and I need large drives for tens-of-thousands of photos. I have some ten drives altogether, and I would rank this one as the fastest of all for downloading and uploading. I can not yet vouch for dependability as I've only had it for a month or so, but I have about fifty-thousand images on it to date, so you can see that I have more than a little confidence in LaCie products.

Well packaged and works straight out of the box!
This is now my third LaCie 2big. I am a photographer and my need for storage (with internal mirrored backup) is always growing. Living full time in a motorhome, space is always an issue. I have been able to replace 11 WD drives with these (WD no longer do Thunderbolt /mirrored) and freed up valuable space. The only slightly negative comment is that it takes a considerable time for the drives to re-power up when I have processed an image to be stored.

Died after 4 wks
Seemed like the smart thing to do - spend more to get high quality. But apparently this isn't the case - at first I couldn't read one of the partitions, then it stopped powering up. I can't endorse any product that fails that quickly performing such an essential function.
