Highly recommended
recently installed the Tapo Motion Sensor in my home, and I’ve been really impressed with its performance. The setup was incredibly straightforward—just download the app, connect the device, and you’re good to go. The sensor itself is compact and sleek, easily blending into any space without being intrusive. What really stands out is the sensor’s accuracy. It detects motion quickly and reliably, activating lights and devices almost instantly when I walk into a room. The sensitivity is adjustable, so I can fine-tune it to my preferences. It also works well in various lighting conditions, which is a huge plus for me.One of the best features is the integration with other smart devices. I’ve linked it with my Tapo smart lights, and it’s great to have the lights turn on automatically as soon as I enter a room. I also appreciate that it has a good range, detecting movement from a decent distance.Battery life has been solid, and I’ve had no issues with connectivity or false triggers. The Tapo Motion Sensor is an excellent addition to my smart home setup, offering convenience and reliability.Overall, if you’re looking for a motion sensor that’s easy to set up, works well, and integrates smoothly with other smart devices, I highly recommend this one.

Tiny and brilliant
I got this sensor as I’m automating my home gradually. Firstly the size is tiny, it’s hardly noticeable when positioned in the corner of my room so it’s very discrete. Once set up, which was so easy on the app and then with the Alexa functionality it was great to see it working. The motion detection is fantastic, very sensitive and very accurate, it has not missed a detection yet. The design is tiny and has lovely soft rounded edges. It has an articulating joint so once stuck on the wall it can then be moved to see the best angle without having to remove it from its fastening. It is a nice bright white colour, which hides itself well next to a skirting board or the white of coving in the corner of a room. I’m going to buy more of these little beauties now and enjoy automating the rest of my house!

Brilliant. Small. Functional
These are brilliant little things. We now have 2 in our house and are looking at a thirdThey perform great, very accurate and are so small you hardly notice them. I forget they're there until the light turns on!They connect to the app and the rest of my tapo devices with ease and the in app features are so practical and easy to use and set upYou can set these up with routines, so that they only activate between certain times of the day and will active your bulbs to whatever % brightness and colour you like. This is great for us, because we have one of our sensors set up to turn the light on 10% for when we get up in the middle of the night to use the loo. Nothing worsenthan being half asleep and turning a light on full brightness!I like how they come with different fitting options. They come with self adhesive pads, which are super strong and are magnetic, we have one on the side of our fridge and you can screw them in place if you feel it's neededJust a shame they're not waterproof, because I would love one in the garden to activate the lights at home in case an intruder cameGreat price when on offer, very happy with these

Good quality & value motion sensor
Update 31/01/24:TP-Link have recently made some great software/firmware updates to much of the Tapo product line.Firstly some degree of local automation is now available, when an automation is created in the Tapo app it will be identified whether or not it will continue to function without an internet connection.Even better news for some, Matter compatibility is now available on the H100 Smart Hub allowing most of the sub-devices to be connected to a Matter controller. This function is still in beta however I have found it to be working well through Home Assistant (where Matter is also still in beta). For those HA users who have been using the Tapo HACS integration I strongly recommend switching to Matter as the polling lag experienced by the Tapo HACS integration does not exist using Matter and it also works entirely locally with no need to connect to TP-Link’s servers. As Matter is still rather new buttons and the water leak sensor currently aren’t supported, but I suspect this is only a matter of time.Original review:The Tapo T100 motion sensor is cheaper (at £14) than many others but as you would expect from TP-Link is a quality item. It is significantly smaller than many competitors, easy to setup and adjust via the Tapo app and thanks to a ~868MHz connection to the required Smart Hub (H100) provides decent range and battery life. Range is obviously totally dependant on obstacles and interference so will vary significantly.Whether this motion sensor will work for you will really depend on what you are trying to achieve. Within the Tapo ecosystem automation options are somewhat limited, it is certainly less customisable than other ecosystems. For those using Alexa two operations - motion detected & motion not detected for chosen time period - can be utilised as triggers once the Tapo skill has been installed, which opens up far more possibilities and the capability to control devices across other ecosystems. I tested using this to control some Philips Hue lights and it worked fine, albeit with occasionally a little delay. Perhaps it works more seamlessly with Tapo bulbs which can be setup in the Tapo app without involving Alexa. I did find Alexa routines triggered by this motion sensor stopped working for no reason on more than one occasion requiring them to be deleted and recreated. Also disabling then reenabling routines caused them to break, so not great reliability using Alexa. For those using Home Assistant none of the sensors or buttons that connect to the H100 hub currently work with HA. I don't foresee an integration being developed any time soon as TP-Link does not make the API publicly available and devices that require an internet connection to function are not particularly popular within the HA community.Unlike most systems that utilise a hub/bridge/gateway, any sensors (or buttons) connected to the Smart Hub (H100) will entirely cease to function if the internet connection is lost. There is no good reason for this and in my opinion is a very poor decision by TP-Link, local functionality is an absolute necessity for a reliable smart home. Light switches or security sensors not functioning because of a lost internet connection is a really dumb problem to introduce. The advertised idea of using these in conjunction with the Smart Hub as a burglar alarm is sadly farcical. It is not loud enough to scare off anyone plus can be easily unplugged by a burglar. It is however useful as a means to alert you via your phone and it also keeps a log of triggered times, which is all I wanted it for. If you have any Tapo bulbs or plugs it can of course be used to turn these on/off also.Do a little research to ensure its capabilities meet your requirements and don’t purchase during one of Amazon’s periodic temporary price hikes and you should be satisfied.

For this product to work requires a Hub to be purchased
Well built, amazingly small and discreet. Comes with 3m sticky pads for attaching to the window or frame. Battery life is enormous, 2 years!!! Easy to connect gives peace of mind that vulnerable areas are monitored. The only thing not mentioned is it requires a Tapo Hub to be purchased if you don't have one. The Hub allows you to easily connect 64 different devices and up to 4 cameras and will store 512mb of photos and vids using a memory card.

BE VERY ALARMED
These are easy to fit and work very efficiently with the Tapo hub. It's great to receive a warning on my phone (wherever I am) that a door has been opened. I love Tapo stuff it's always good quality, reasonable cost and reliable.
