Works, but better options unless you're pressed for roof space
Don't buy this unless you need it for the same reason I purchased mine for-- limited roof space. I originally had a more traditional Thule ski-snowboard rack, but with the addition of a Yakima Rocketbox, I had find an alternative that worked with half of my roof space, or swap them out every time I needed the other.Pros of this rack: Securely holds snowboards in placeLow price (for a Thule product)Looks coolCons: The straps are annoying, can fall offOnly holds snowboardsTo use the rack, you have to hook one end of the strap into the back of the E-- The higher end. There are four slots total for this, depending on the width of the boards you are carrying. Your snowboard(s) slot into the spaces, and the straps wrap over them, securing in the front. There are spacers in the grooves that move up and down, so that if you are carrying two different width boards, you can have them riding at the same height. Once the boards are in, You pull the strap down, open the gray plastic hatch on the front, slot the end of the cable in, close and lock it. Once this is in place, the boards are quite secure. I did have trouble with placing the straps being too tight on occasion. I would put my board in different orientations (four total ways), and as the bindings limit where the board can sit, and the board itself is wider at the ends than the middle, I had to establish that the board was going to ride THIS way and keep it constant. My main issue with the rack is the straps. It's kind of a hassle undoing them and redoing them every time. In addition, once I didn't bother to re-lock the straps down after taking my board inside. The next day I noticed in a parking lot that one strap was hanging only in the front groove, the other had disappeared. Locking them in place every single time is definitely the way to go, as without them the rack is entirely useless. All in all, I knew what I was getting. I knew about these problems, but this rack was the best option for what I needed, and thus earned my money. It's not the best design out there, but it gets the job done, and takes up hardly any space on my roof.

They also tend to fall out easily while adjusting them individually to secure the snowboards
Everything worked well with this product. It safely transported 2 snowboards on my 14 hr trek to CO from TX. My only improve, as mentioned by others, are the detachable straps. While not hard to adjust, it can be a little frustrating trying insert them with numb, cold fingers after a day of snowboarding, because of the sharp reverse angle. They also tend to fall out easily while adjusting them individually to secure the snowboards. I would still recommend this product, but there are some inefficiencies to address. The product was very easy to install on my roof rack and was able to fit next to my large cargo carrier.

Simple and Effective Carrier
The first package came with keys that did not unlock the locks. Frustrating considering I noticed after I had installed it. Nevertheless, Amazon shipped another carrier to me the same day with a return shipping label for the first carrier. The carrier itself is easy to install and is perfect for two snowboards and bindings. The angle allows the bindings to clear the roof line.

Would suggest other products
A bit of a nuisance to use/mount. The base of each one needs to be screwed on by 4 hex bolts from the bottom. Also, ensure they're aligned on your crossbars (front/back). Each set only holds 2 boards and purchasing a second set for 4, you can get the easy to mount, insert and remove board products. Each time you load up, you need to adjust the cable to ensure a tight fit. There's just a lot more nuances for affixing your board than using the friction latch down systems.

Easy to mount, great quality, leaves a lot room
Great quality as expected from Thule. Easy to mount, setting up for boards the first time took a little effort but not bad. Boards are securely locked in with string wire cable so no worries to stop and eat or something. With 1 on each side and a flat rack in the middle we fit 6 boards no problem.

I would not recommend this product unless you want to risk losing you board.
I purchased this a few months ago and last week on my way to work, the rear carrier exploded. I was going about 75 mph. And have more or less had my board up there the entire time for the past couple months. I didn't hit anything, it was mounted correctly and the board was in correctly. I would guess the stress of having the strap tight over the board combined with the vibrations of the road caused it to weaken. Which sucks because it sent my board flying down the road at 70 mph. Now There is no way I had it to tight because I had the strap on the very last notch, it could't get any looser. I'm very disappointed because this is a name brand and I picked it up because of my limited roof space. I have van with a solar panel on top and I have a cargo box waiting to also go on the roof. Now I am just not sure what to do because I don't have the roof for a traditional carrier with the other things on there. Not to mention my board is useless now. So I am out the money for this carrier and the money for my Burton Board. Check out the pics, You can see in the carrier that is still attached, I have it on the last notch for the cable... There is no way to make it looser.

They do the job
These work pretty slick. They are a little finicky to set up at first with the clamps. Also, the cable sometimes flops out when you are putting boards on. But otherwise they do the job. The deer antlers as I like to call them.

Works okay with my snowboards
My board just barely fits. The bindings just fits, if I have my bindings just a little more appart I would not be able to fit my boards in.I did have to get the longer screws because my roof rack bars are thicker. The strap that holds the boards in place are also a bit of a pain to put on, especially when my hands are cold. But all in all the product works, and my boards have not falling off while driving.
