I'm using this to drive a large hub motor. Initially I had issues with cogging and detecting the hall sensors, but when I got all of the parameters correct - it worked great. It is programmable from the VESC tool, which recognizes it immediately and through which you can dial in all of the settings. Getting the initial configuration correct can be a challenge, but that isn't a knock on this product - just the nature of brushless motors. The quality is good, the performance is good although I am not pushing it in any way. Overall I would recommend this speed control.

It's incredible what they can do in such a tiny package. I put this on a toddler balance bike with a little hub motor and a pair of cordless drill batteries to make a 36v 1kw trail riding, hill-climbing steed for my son. We're not even using half the max current and are only at half the max voltage - this unit will be able to grow with him as long as it survives. It's kind of a shame these don't come with Bluetooth out of the box - definitely get the Bluetooth dongle and pay for the VESC Tools app for complete telemetry and field adjustment of the parameters. More than worth the upgrade.

Blew a capacitor within seconds. Electrolyte and smoke to clean up now. Should have just lived with my FSESC 4.12 that I’ve been using for a long time.

UPDATE - Feb-2025: Most recent purchase of these have arrived with genuine ST MCUs so I can recommend them again. They are a good VESC6 (3 phase shunts) clone which is small and good for more challenging electric scooter repowers without much space to put control gear, like SNSC 2.3s or anything that has the inverter stuffed inside the stem tube. Still, -2 stars for the fake chip incident. Additionally the gate driver was also bad on one of the dodgy Dec23/Jan24 purchased boards. Previous review: I have used Flipsky's VESCs in the past without issues until I ran into one of these (6.7 Pro Mini) I bought a couple months back which would NOT communicate reliably over UART for anything. Tried multiple baud rates, replaced the MCU/hardware on the other end completely to rule it out, verified signal integrity at the Rx pins on both ends with a scope (excellent), oscillator frequency on the other board (pretty well dead on spec), and timing ...nothing appeared to be the matter outside of the VESC MCU itself. So, I ordered another one of these thinking I had a lemon or damaged MCU (maybe it got ESD'd or something). That board also acted up identically. I noticed something funky about the markings poking out from under the QA sticker on the MCU so I removed it and found that the MCU was NOT a STMicroelectronics part, it was this Geehy clone (APM32F405). This is the case on both misbehaving boards, and is NOT the case on all of my others (one of these and two aluminum can 75/100s), which all have real STM32 chips, and run UART flawlessly at 250k. These two Geehy boards also seem to FOC more roughly, even after attempts to dial them in, on the same motors as the ST boards. Would be expected as the ADC performance and other random things will differ with these substitute chips. I am NOT Impressed by this unnanounced production change and unless something is confirmed done about it and that you are going to get the correct ST part, I am not buying anything VESC from Flipsky again. VESC is a very demanding application, these copies are NOT the same thing as the real part and definitely shouldn't be used here.
