I brought this a month ago and I really liked it, but the first time I went to officially use it, the whole thing fell apart, the spring is rusty and I cannot fix it. When attempting to get product support, the link provided is broken and I missed the return window by a day.I am not impressed with this product and do not recommend buying it due to lack of contact - while I understand that this could be a bad batch, there's no way of getting help from the company.

Broke after a few uses

This lock is effective as a quick deterrent for bike thieves as you cannot cut it with bolt croppers, I believe. Its not impossible to break the lock off using other methods but it is good for quick stops as it immobilises the bike for a few minutes while your attention is elsewhere. It is also light enough to carry around with you and doesn't weigh you down.

It's incredibly well made and just as well thought out with its simple, no-fuss folding design and functionality. It's straightforward to use and genuinely feels like a premium product from the get-go. It's easy to fit to the frame for transportation where the weight feels negligible using the included mounting case and it doesn't affect the balance of the bike during riding. As you can see photos, I have the full Via Velo kit on my Ebike as I trust the system to give me enough time to go about my business in the knowledge that my bike us more likely to still be there when I return to it though I would always advise removing the battery and taking it with you and not leaving any bike any longer than is necessary regardless of how good the security is as a determined thief with power tools will usually win if given enough time.In summary, it's well worth the investment when weighed up against the cost of the bike you have and what it would cost to replace it if the worst happens. This lock is a bit of a trade-off between security and convenience. It's doesn't have any 'sold-secure' rating, and the lock itself doesn't feel super-solid. There is a lot of play between each section of the lock and it feels vulnerable to a leverage attack. The lock itself is covered with a rather weak feeling cover, and it doesn't feel that it would stand up to any kind of serious attack. It doesn't claim to conform to any international standards. Insurance companies are unlikely to consider it as a suitable lock.However, it is very convenient. It comes supplied with a really nice holster that you can screw into your bikes bottle bosses, and it's quite lightweight at less than a Kg. It unfolds quickly, and the narrow links are easy to thread through spokes and around whatever you're locking it to. The lock itself is easy to fasten and release. It fits back into its case quickly and easily and is held very securely, although it does tend to rattle a bit.This is a great lock if you have a low-value bike, or you live in a safe area or if you're just leaving your bike for a few minutes, but if your bike is expensive or particularly precious to you or you need to lock it all day somewhere vulnerable then I wouldn't use this as a primary lock. It is very useful as a secondary lock though to secure wheels or saddles though, and easy to use.

No Price at time of review, so I can only review based on quality not value (similar products range from £60-120)Having just spent £1,500 on an eBike I was looking for a good lock I wasn't going to compromise on quality having spent so much on the bike, I've used various D-Locks and motorcycle chains over the years, but a friend on mine had two of these types of locks that he uses and swears by them as they fold up quite small and are very secure, so I was very fortunate when this appeared for review.As the pictures show, this folds up into a plastic and rubber holder that can be mounted to your frame, it's pretty heavy in the hand at around 1kg, it feels really well made, each connecting rivet looks solid too, there's no lateral movement or looseness everything is rock solid.You get 2 keys, which come with a unique security code, should you lose them or need replacements, you can get them from Via Velo directly. The only issue for me per se is the mounting, for the majority of users this won't be an issue, but as I have an Engwe Engine folding eBike, I have to store this in my rear bike bag, as I don't have anywhere I can attach the case, as my frame contains a large battery the straps are too short to go around the frame, so note to manufacturer, it would be really cool if you had the option to purchase additional extra long straps.I don't hand out 5 stars often, but this deserves it!Please select the “Helpful” button if you found my review helpful, greatly appreciated thank you

Cool bike lock and the case is perfect easy mounting and install . Build quality is great . Doesnt feel cheap . Good product and great price.

<<UPDATED>> This is a very compact but very secure bicycle lock. It folds compactly and mounts easily to the frame of the bicycle so it isn't in the way. It doesn't have the fully security capability of a cable and U lock to secure both front and rear wheels but it does secure the frame and one wheel very securely. I don't believe that bolt cutters would work effectively on this folding lock. The downside is that it did not come with a key code tag so getting any replacement keys appeared to be impossible. The company to its credit tried to resolve the issue by determining the code from a picture of the key that came with the lock. They quickly came back with an identification which was used to order additional keys. Unfortunately, for some reason the replacement keys did not work, but this did not deter the company's service people. They asked for another picture to confirm the key code and they sent out another set of keys. This time the keys worked perfectly, with no binding or other issues. The company is justifiably proud of their product and has a customer service department that truly stands behind their products.

I had high hopes for this as a secondary lock to discourage thieves from going after my bike. It arrived on a timely basis and felt fairly solid. The locking mechanism felt smooth and secure. On the 3rd use however, the housing on the locking mechanism literally fell apart in my hands. As you can see in the photos the cap/cover came apart from the locking mechanism. Fortunately I had my primary lock as I was far from home doing an errand. Based on the other reviews, I am not the first to receive a defective lock and if they don't get their quality control together I won't be the last customer. You're better off skipping this and avoid the hassle of returning the bits and pieces.***Update - Customer Satisfaction Oriented Company***Via Velo read my review and saw the problem I had and wanted to make it right by sending me a complimentary lock for my troubles. I have since received the replacement and will be test driving it. I will update my product review in the near future. High marks for their customer satisfaction response.
