The Complete RV Handbook

Great Universal Tips and ideas.
Not owning an RV, this book has a lot of useful info and I have switched my view on what might be my first RV, so the info in valuable. Plenty of general and universal tips that still apply today. The book was written in 2004-2005 timeframe so some particular RV models they discuss may not be the most up to date as far as specific amenities but the general idea of the book is still very relevant. Good Reading for beginners.

A great primer for those getting out for the first time!
My husband and I started out in our brand new RV, a 28' pull-behind, on March 29th of this year and did not return until June 20th. We had plenty of time to experience RVing up close and live. There were so many things in this book that helped me understand the systems we were working with and permitted me to ask intelligent questions when the dealer went over the trailer with us. The book told us a bit about the RVing culture, too. It was very useful to first-timers like us.

Should have been called "Motorhome Copilot's Handbook"
Three and a half stars. I dinged it primarily because it is not the book that I was lead to believe it was from the title and description. The author is a motorhome co-pilot and this book represents that perspective very well. It is interesting and well-written and I read it from cover to cover. I learned a lot about traveling in a motorhome. However, that isn't why I bought the book. I am considering getting into RVing and I thought this was going to be a "Complete RV Handbook". It was instead focused almost entirely on motorhomes with only occasional nods to travel trailers or fifth wheels. There wasn't very much in depth detail on operating, maintaining or repairing RVs either. It is more about living and traveling in an motorhome. I also found some errors (e.g. the illustration on page 91 is a hitch receiver, not a weight distributing hitch) and I am pretty new to this stuff. The information is pretty dated as well and there is a lot of new technology that makes some of the information found here obsolete. I suspect my wife will get a lot more from this book than I did. I do recommend this book, just don't make the mistake of thinking that it is "The Complete RV Handbook".
