This book is below average as your very first pen testing book (it is easy to read
I am not sure why there are a handful of five star reviews. This book is below average as your very first pen testing book (it is easy to read, but dangerously uninformative), and is definitely not for people that have even a basic knowledge of pen testing (as it claims to be).I feel like the book is basically just a list of tools included with Kali with very short, meaningless descriptions of each. If you'd rather pay $50 than do a google search for Kali Linux tools, this is the book for you. Just look at the table of contents vs the number of pages...there is nowhere near enough room to describe anything in any detail. It is riddled with typos and desperately needs an editor to do even one read through the book. The content seems pretty unorganized compared to other intro pen testing books I have read.Okay, I've said my negatives. Obviously I am upset that I bought the book, or else I wouldn't leave a review. But since I did, here are some positives. I guess it is an ok resource for finding a list of tools to perform a given task. It also tells you how to install Kali on multiple platforms. Those things could be easily found on the Internet, but if you don't care to do research and would rather have somebody guide you through getting started and learning the names of some popular tools, this book is a viable resource. If you have never read a book on pen testing and want to get started, this book is an ok read WITH CAUTION. Do not blindly start using TOR and other tools without any other research. While I would suggest looking for other higher quality books to get started, this book at least teaches the basic foundations and gets your hands dirty. All of the above is just my opinion. Kudos to the author for writing about a topic they care about and trying to spread knowledge. I was just upset with the price I paid versus the content delivered, especially compared against cheaper books with richer content.

Great book if you already know how to play
Great reference material if you already know your way around Kali. Don't expect babies first Debian command list from this book though. This book, RTFM, Google, and a criminal mindset will get you started on your pentesting skillset. Em-attack dot com.

Just bought this book today and I went directly to wireless hacking page. It gives out a good explanation about the attack and gives you step by step instruction. Easy to understand for a person who's first language is not english. Will update you more once I read the whole book. Happy that I purchased this book.

Security-Oriented Manual, and Good For That.
The manual has been easy to read and easy to follow. Seems extensive so far. This distro is updating almost constantly, but for the basics, a great manual.
