Lots of fun and excellent play value
We had this on our wishlist for a long time, but we were nervous to purchase it due to its expense, large size, and some iffy reviews. We finally snagged it on sale and I’m so glad we did! My two train-obsessed children LOVE it (currently ages 2.5 and 4.5) and it’s holding up well so far. We love all the fun details on the tower, and it lends itself to many ways of playing: an adventure site, a race track for trains, a house for toy trains and various other toys, etc. My children spend many hours a week playing with it, and it keeps holding their interest. I’m very impressed with the quality of the materials and the design. It is compatible with our Brio tracks and trains. Both children enjoy it but the 2.5 year old needs more supervision with the tracks, as he sometimes knocks a piece over and needs help putting back. The 4.5 year old plays with it expertly and doesn’t need help. I think my 2.5 year old is a little too young for it (which I expected given the age range on the box), but he still loves it and the toy has held up to his play. It did take about two hours to set up and build, and getting some of the screws in the middle were tricky. Totally worth it, though, and it seems sturdily built so far. I was worried from some reviews about tracks fitting loosely or breaking, but while ours do fall every once and a while with our littlest, they really do seem sturdy and take some effort to knock out of place. They also have held up well so far to the occasional bump. The footprint of this toy is huge. I was worried about that too in terms of storage, but so far the kids are playing with it so much it seems worth the space. Overall, we adore this toy and it sees lots of play. I’m so glad we purchased it!

Great set/To expensive .industry taking advantage...
The only issue I had is that the instructions, via pictures and letters (each price has a letter to represent it a..b..c..ECT...) The photos are a bit confusing and over simplified. Does not offer direction plants should be facing in in written form. Also, the screws are put in places that are impossible to screw in, unless you have a work bench and bending screw drivers. We had to secure it in other places, which was hard because the particle board with split if you do it to hard, or fast The space given to screw the screws in, was less than 6 inches, before you have another board, making it impossible...and in the bodies we found...all the shots of people putting the screws in..just happen to be outta the view of the camera...every single time.. maybe they can fix this? Idk.. Just know...your gonna need your own screws, or an experienced carpenter to put it together. I even have a small eye glasses size Phillips head...and even they were to long to use in the secured spots that are set up in it..so..yeah ..it's a great track though. Try to buy it on sale though. No children's toy should ever be over 50 bucks ....kids should all have the opportunity to experience me play with things that interest them. Making them unaffordable for families who can't spend 100 on a toy, is telling a child the industry does not value them, bc their parents don't have money. ..which..isn't cool. I get business need profits. But...they should also take.imto account the people.

A great product, but hard to assemble!
I quite like how this product works, but getting it assembled is hard since the pieces kept wanting to come apart as I moved it around during the construction. You'll need to make sure you follow all of the steps in order if you don't want to keep screwing and unscrewing. Overall, a great product for both kids and collectors alike.

Good, but not great
Well packaged. Took 30 minutes to put together Christmas Eve. Had my father-in-law hold a few pieces along the way and my wife for about 3 minutes also at one point since they were both available. Could have done it without them but was really handy. So assembly I'd say was fairly easy. Fit of things is not as impressive. Put some spacer under the middle span of the elevated tracks to get them to align better, but still not as good as I had expected. Features are kinda oddly placed. The elevator would get played with more if the design was better, just kinda placed in there where they could get it? The crane was kinda the same. Guess you are just supposed to unload train to little area near the crane. The crane and elevator are not meant to interact. Kinda thought they tie those features together somehow. Got this for my 4 year old (youngest of 5 kids), but the other kids do play with it some. My 10 year old mentioned it would work better if there was a place for the train to turn around on the top layer and he's right. Our first big train set, we have a ton of tracks and trains and some smaller setups even a dedicated table that have gotten good play over the years, as such I was expecting more. Overall would say 3.5 rounding to 4 for their rating system. We snagged it at a low point back in Nov for $130. For the $170 they have it at now I wouldn't be very happy with the fit and functionality.

Mutliple levels of fun
This was a Christmas present for our 20-month old son, and has been an absolute hit. He plays with this every day. He will just walk off over to the train set and start playing by himself. He had enjoyed playing with his older sister's doll house which had multiple levels (he would put his cars in it), and I thought a train set with multiple levels would give him the same enjoyment with his toys. He plays with trains in it, with cars in it, and with farm animals or dinosaurs in it. A very versatile and dynamic setup, and Dad is happy to play with it too with the ramps and crane and stuff. A wooden train set we had been given from Pottery Barn hooks up perfectly with the track at the bottom and continues the track for us on the floor. Putting it together wasn't that challenging in my opinion. Construction and materials aren't top notch, but are OK. I had to glue a piece back on that connects the track to the top section, but not a hard fix. A couple months in, with daily play, and holding up well.

Mon petit-fils n'en croyait pas ses yeux. Je l'ai monté seule, belle qualité. Un jeu formidable pour nos passionnés de trains ! Depuis je l'ai raccordé à la grande gare sans pb.

Wonderful! Exactly what I was after for a 5 year old. Went together easily. Is good and sturdy. He’s played with it for hours-really prompts the imagination. A quality piece

Good playability overall but the track connectors to the wooden plates are damaged. Complained to Hape. Hape US is fast to respond but since I lived in Singapore, they refer me to their Chinese team which take 1+ months to reply. Hape said the product is no longer manufactured, unable to get the parts unless I have to wait for the next batch of production which nobody knows when. They also mentioned that I have to pay for the shipment fees which is a huge portion of the original price. Kids love it but get annoyed when the train fall off, so I have to use glue and cell tape to keep the connectors in place. Even if you get a seemingly good set, it will take a few months before it fall off. Very disappointed.
