Hive Thermostat Mini for Heating and Hot Water (Conventional boiler) without Hive Hub - Energy Saving Thermostat

I would say this is probably one of the best devices I've had for controlling the heating. I would advise those who are going to buy one of these devices to get the receiver installed by a trained engineer as installing this was NOT easy, even for me!! If you know what you're doing then great, If you don't then think about the added TOTAL cost of an engineer plus the cost of this device!!!!!!!!(Some electrical engineers can charge up to £100 to install)...!!!! After I did eventually get it installed the phone app is brilliant and easy to use. Hive had cracked it with simple easy-to-use instructions within the app and it does everything for you when installing the device. I've always had wireless wifi thermostats in the past especially when I had a new boiler installed and this is one of the best. I like the fact you can control your heating anywhere around the world which is brilliant for when you are going on holiday!!My next task with this device will be adding the additional thermostats to all the radiators in the house and having all of them connected to the same app but be warned there a bit pricy and recuperating the cost will take longer to get back over time through reducing your gas bill...!!!! I also love the bit where the thermostat can detect motion, with its built-in "Motion Sensor" feature so if you go out and forget to turn your heating off, HIVE will do it for you!!! (You have to program it to do this by the way)..!!! These devices will work on ANY boiler or heating system so don't be put off!!

Nice thermostat which uses Zigbee to connect to the combi boiler receiver. I connected it to my home assistant z2m and it works as a charm. I don't need the hub and can control the heating including schedules via HA locally.

Bought it to replace Google Nest as Google is retiring the app access and API.Installation was easy, not using Hive hub - connected to my instance of zigbee2mqtt instead (no problems).Works well with Home Assistant, just get custom integration named: HA-Hive-Local-ThermostatLocal control, no cloud, great!Only one problem: you can't set schedule on this thermostat, only via Hive app and their hub. No problem for me as I use HA for scheduling.

When my old Honeywell thermostat packed up, I decided to give Hive a try—I'd never used it before. I was expecting a tricky setup, but to my surprise, installation was super easy! The wiring was exactly the same as my old Honeywell oil boiler, so despite initially planning to call an electrician (who had a two-week wait), I ended up installing it myself. From unboxing to full setup with the app, it only took me about an hour.The connection was smooth, and now I can control my heating and hot water remotely, which is a huge upgrade. I'm still getting used to the app—one thing I haven't quite figured out is why the schedule sometimes reverts to 7°C despite being set to 20°C. sometimes reverts to 7°C despite being set to 20°C.One thing I do find disappointing is the thermostat display—why such a huge box, only for the actual display to be a tiny square in the middle? With today's technology, I would have hoped for a much better design. I also haven’t figured out how to keep it on all the time to easily see the temperature.But overall, this has been a fantastic improvement, and I’m so glad I went for this one! Highly recommended to all.

Doesn’t work… won’t pair, tried for about 3 hours… don’t buy this, google nest is a better option… I now have no heating…. Luckily it’s warm atm… but until I buy and have fitted a replacement unit, then I am basically stuffed..
