Comfortable, but built to be disposable after a few months
The only reason I continue buying these is because my son with autism has sensitive feet and that is the brand and similar model he wears from toddler age. But with each pair quality is going down and down. Last one had inserts totally ruined within 2-3 months, so we bought other inserts, but other parts from inside started ripping out piece by piece, and just at six months mark I can see his sock though the side of the shoe...Totally unacceptable. That is the true reason our Earth is polluted-manufacturers build disposable things, that use up precious resources to make them, ship them, pack them and then they end up in the landfill after a few meager months. And these are not cheap shoes either. I am seriously considering learning to make shoes. They would be built to our specific foot shape, and after initial investment in tools/materials, much less expensive, and last many years. If we make sole from bike tire material, they will never wear out. It seems to me, that product makers now are have a competition to see how long they can fool us before we will notice them mocking us.Update on new shoes we bough less than half year ago- same junk. Now insides are so ripped, that plastic heel is sticking out and my son got blisters. That is it. We are going to look for other brand as I have no time to learn to make ours right now.

Can't recommend these anymore. It was a 5 star and now a 1 star.
These shoes are pretty comfortable, I can stand and walk in them for hrs. The longest I've had these on was 10 hrs and my legs didn't feel like Jello. My feet are wide and they did pinch a little on the side, however I just loosened the bottom Velcro a tad and that helped a lot. The leather is also a plus because my previous pair of shoes had mostly cloth and I got them dirty fast because I deal with having to move concrete bags and other dusty matter.edit: Update 3/17/2017After 6 months of having these shoes, they already ripped... My co-workers are as baffled as I am with how fast they ripped. I work 40-46 hrs a week, don't use them outside of work. I don't work construction, I work retail. I'm sure I'm using these shoes within what they were designed for. They were still comfortable for me but they are cheap quality.

I've pretty much switched to Skechers because I like their width
I've pretty much switched to Skechers because I like their width, style, selection and reasonable cost. I'm elderly and as my hands become less useful I find some simple things, such as tying shoes, more difficult. This is the first time I've tried Velcro closures and they do seem to work. Like many seniors I have some swelling in my feet and wish that the top closure straps were about an inch longer. (Original review)I originally posted this as 4 stars. After two months I'm downgrading it to one. The most consistent problem given in the reviews was the metal liner in the eyelets coming out making the shoe unusable. Being aware of the problem, the shoes were priced reasonably enough that I thought I'd take a chance. After two months the metal liner in the right eyelets have come out so the shoe will quickly be unusable. Other than becoming unusable after a couple of months, the shoes were fine.

Sturdy sneakers
My second pair of these sneakers. Let me say first of all that I have neuropathy. Shoes makes a big difference in your comfort. I bought another pair of sneakers and I noticed that they seem to get too soft as you keep walking. I needed something sturdier. These sneakers fit the bill. I did in ordering buy a half size to large but it was still ok because I could tighten the straps and not be sliding all over the place. I like these sneakers .....they are roomy in the toe area the velour straps are secure and give me the secure feeling with each step I take. If you have neuropathy you know that feeling you may fall? I don't get that with these sneakers. The second pair had not arrived yet but will be updating once I get them.

LOVE THESE, for the money...............
LOVE THESE, for the money. Toes not smushed together, decent support, very easy closure for folks with ortho issues or getting on in the years like me. NICE grip in slight to moderate grassy hills in the yard too. Some brands are darn near slick on the bottom. I've no concern about slipping on my long slope, and in spots it's a pretty good angle, too. This is my second pair, and should mention, good grip in light snow under an inch too!! Nice plus!! Older people who break easily should NEVER go out in light snow without some decent traction. Finally, I have feet that can swell, and am a 14 4E and 6' 4", 285#, and these have held up well so far. No coming apart at the seams like some that are not built well. Great fit, comfy, (I put in the nicest W store insert for more padding in all my shoes), this is the best value I've had in general around the town tennis shoes. Very happy for the money! WILL buy again. So far - so good.

Velcro failed after 5 months
Bought these 5 months ago. Shoes are comfortable and seemed nice enough except for 2 problems:1. The type of rubber on the soles squeaks on lots of different surfaces, including tile, vinyl, and concrete. That's pretty aggravating, but livable.2. After 5 months, the velcro on the straps is completely worn out and no longer holds the shoe tightly. The "fuzzy" side of the velcro is basically gone on both straps, on both shoes. So while they still look almost new, I can't wear them because they feel like they are going to fall off my feet.I don't recommend these shoes for these two reasons.

Excellent Traction
As an umpire, I use these shoes as my base shoes where I need good traction on grass and dirt both wet and dry. I decided to purchase these for 3 different reasons. The 1st reason is the traction of the soul. I've worn them now for several games and admit the traction is excellent. The 2nd reason is I can polish the leather which is a must. And last but not least is the price. I've paid close to $100 for my last pair. I'll know more about how they hold up at the end of the season. Now for the negatives: I've always worn size 11 1/2 or 12 normal width for my athletic shoes. These US 11.5 N shoes seem a bit wide. I really have to pull on the velcro tabs to tighten the shoes side to side. My fear is that they break in and the leather loosens up, this will become a problem. They are also heavier than my previous NB shoe. Each Skechers shoe is just over 1 lb where my previous NB is 12.6 oz.

Best velcro shoe I've ever owned.
Last year I discovered the sketcher 4E wide shoes and it changed my life. Thanks to the internet I was no longer bound by the shoes that were not wide enough for my feet that the local stores would sell.At first I was just using the laces version which I recommend those for longer walks and things of that nature, but I use these velcro shoes for quicker things around the house just needing to go outside quickly or run to the store.I find that the right foot the top velcro strap digs in and I have to wear extra loosely but as I have owned more than one pair of these shoes I realize that it is not a design problem, it is my foot seems to be thicker on one side at that spot. These shoes are very comfortable, I recommend them highly and I really hope that Skechers continues to make their 4E wide shoes. I honestly can't stress enough how important the right fitting shoe is to the rest of your life!

A bit of comfort with a sole.
Second pair bought, I was not happy at first but after wearing these things till they were done I changed my tune. They were comfortable almost to the bitter end. The inside stuff wore down and the plastic bits started to eat at the sides of my feet. A good pair of shoes and I did not have to use my inserts. The grip on the sole was a bonus in the winter and great on ladders.

Long lasting and comfortable.
This is my second pair of these and the first ones I purchased last spring. They are still in great shape. I used them in the garden, cutting grass, building 2 decks for just about everything. Only reason I bought a new pair is the old ones are very dirty. I have a right leg brace that stops drop foot due to an injury. So the velcro straps are a must. No rips or holes in the first pair hence the second pair. These are the best footwear all around. AMAZING.

According to my 12 year old, they're great.
Bought these for my 12 year old, who should not be so grown up he has size ten adult feet, but somehow he is. I'm dying inside. Sweet child never wanted to learn to tie his shoes (really he has sensory issues and found laces to be irritating) so finding athletic shoes in grown men size for his big clown feet, with Velcro, has been tricky. So glad I found these. He says they're comfortable.

side of the shoe worn out too fast
I bought these shoes for my father who is in a wheelchair and elderly. The side of the left shoe is coming apart at the seams and it should not do that. These were bought only a couple of months ago and already they look like crap. He cannot walk anymore so the only part that is worn out is the side of the left shoe. I have never seen something like this happen to any type of shoe that I have bought. I am not happy
