I tried everything to save my floors like crates, potty pads, even fake turf and nothing worked as well as Fresh Patch. Some people may feel the cost is a bit steep, but I have a few tips that more than double the typical lifespan of each patch 👇 I order the Standard size (24x16”), and with my 8 lb chihuahua I can stretch one box to almost an entire month by running a small, inexpensive grow light over it for a few hours a day. It keeps the grass dry without killing it and helps control odor for weeks, far longer than the expected lifespan. The size is perfect for my little dog, and it even worked for my 60 lb German Shepherd when we were snowed in. It definitely wore out faster (totally expected for a big dog), but in a pinch it still worked. If you have multiple dogs, I recommend tucking something absorbent underneath the grass inside the box. It prevents the patch from sitting in pooled urine and noticeably extends the life. The box itself is extremely sturdy. I’ve never had issues with leaking or mess. Even when it starts to look worn, the liner stays sealed and durable. The only time I ever had a problem was due to a mishap I witnessed upon its arrival, causing slight damage in the box (seen in images) but it was absolutely no fault of the seller or product itself and they immediately sent a replacement. By the way, their customer service is AMAZING and they were very quick to respond. Overall, this has been the most reliable solution I’ve found for picky, stubborn, or hard-to-train dogs. It’s absolutely worth the price and if you can extend the lifespan, EVEN BETTER. Most dogs naturally prefer real grass, so mine needed zero training. They sniffed it and went right away. They wouldn’t use it at all, not even sniff it! 👇🏼 So I tried something new:👇🏼 I brought the patch to my house and let my dogs use it once or twice. When I brought it back to my mom’s house, BOOM!!! Her dogs’ “territory marking instincts” kicked in the moment they smelled another dog’s scent, and now they use it perfectly every time. I know not everyone has someone who can “pre-mark” the patch for them, but you can still try something similar. If you have a friend or family member, anyone who has a dog that doesn’t live with you and your dog: You can use a paper towel to dab spots where their dog normally goes potty, then gently wipe that scent onto the grass. It’s a simple trick. Then REWARD your dog so they know they are the GOODEST puppy dog EVER!!

Awesome for condo living....no smell.

We are on our 2nd purchase now. I wanted to give it a thorough trial before leaving feedback. I have a 5 pound Chihuahua and a 6.5 pound Papillon who are getting older and having a harder time going longer periods of time waiting to go outside. After seeing all the reviews and trying other "fake grass" options (never worked), I was not totally convinced this would work for us. The dogs stay in a large crate when no one is home to let/take them out and the small size fits perfect in the crate still leaving room for their beds and blankets. There was a full month between deliveries and the grass does get dead and brown, but so does the late summer grass outside and didn't seem to affect my dogs using it. I did notice as it gets drier, it takes longer to absorb the odors and smells a little more when it's wet so I may switch over to 3 week deliveries to prevent that. I've read that female dogs have stronger urine so that may not be an issue for people with male dogs. My dogs would rather go outside when someone is home to let them out, but that may change as the weather gets colder. The Chihuahua really hates cold weather and the last two winters were really bad which was one of the main reasons for exploring other options. I was actually considering building a wooden box in the garage and growing grass in it for the winter months, but then I happened to see this product on Shark Tank. The deciding factor for me was seeing how, as the dogs are getting older, they were having a harder time when no one is home during the day and they were having problems waiting to go out. Rather than risking health problems and pricey vet bills and having to wash their bedding more due to accidents, I decided to try Fresh Patch and we have had no more problems. Since I like the product, in spite of the price, I signed up for the automatic order on the vendors website, which saves 5%. I also had a promo code which saved another 5%. I'm not sure yet if that promo code only worked on the initial order or if it will apply to future orders. You can easily change the number of weeks between deliveries (1-4 weeks), which I may need to do over the winter if they use it more to avoid having to bundle up to go outside. However, I can lengthen that time in the summer when they need it less. I saw some posts mentioning problems with bugs. I have not had any problem like that with either order and both orders showed up nice and green. I do agree with other posts that mention that Fed Ex doesn't pay attention to the box label or the red sticker indicating box should be "this side up" (the top of the box - basically, grass side up). Both times the box was left short side up so I had to straighten the grass patch, but it wasn't a huge deal. I also saw some posts where purchasers were concerned about leakage. I do have small dogs so that may help, but what I do is when I take the lid off I slide the bottom of the box into the lid and essentially have two layers underneath the grass, which may help. I have had absolutely no problems with leaks. I have also had no problems with the box or grass being chewed or dug apart, but my dogs don't tend to be diggers or chewers so that also is not a concern for me. Overall, I highly recommend the product. I have read they are trying to open a location on the East Coast and hopefully as they expand and increase their business, they will be able to lower their costs a little. Update: October 2016 We are still happy customers of fresh patch. They now offer different sizes in addition to this one, the "XL" which is advertised for dogs over 25 pounds, and the "mini" which we have tried. It is exactly half the size of their original one in a smaller cardboard tray. The XL does not come with a cardboard tray, but they do offer a custom tray for it on their website. I also wanted to mention that their customer service is fantastic! I realized my last order was placed when I looked at their website and saw they now offer different sizes. I contacted the company on their website requesting to switch to the mini to try that size. I mentioned in my message to them it may not be able to be taken care of since the current order on my monthly subscription had already been placed. Since the order had not yet been shipped, they refunded me the difference and switched my order from the original size to the mini. I have also had to contact the company on a couple other occasions and they are very quick in their response and, in my experience, have always been willing to keep me happy as a customer. I wish all companies were this easy to deal with :)

LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND THE FIRST ONE I ORDERED IS ALMOST DEAD. WASTE OF MONEY. BUY A CRATE TRAY AND A $10 SOD PIECE AT LOWES AND MAKE YOUR OWN. IT WILL LAST LONGER AND WHEN IT DOES DIE IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO REPLACE. CHANGING MY 5 STARS TO 1. I WISH I HADNT BOUGHT A SECOND ONE. Most important part, its SO easy to clean. We bought biodegradable poop bags and we just pick the poop up every time we see them go out to poop. The pee isn't really a factor. I don't see it pooling up or anything (and it's been in use for a week by 2 medium sized dogs), nor are they having wet paws. This setup is expensive, but honestly if you take into account puppy pads and how much they cost, how many you have to use, buy something to put them in to keep them still, plus the fact it's excess plastic waste for landfills, I still think this this is the better option. It's better for money in the long run, the environment, looks, and ease of cleaning. I've only had it a week, so I can't say how long the grass lasts yet. The grass was pretty and green and damp when it arrived. I do plan on trying to take care of it so it lasts as long as possible. I have liquid fertilizer for my aquarium I plan on mixing with water if the grass starts to look dry. One of my dogs cannot be unattended in the yard, he eats rocks large enough they have to be surgically removed. It's happened twice now, so I had to fence off my concrete sidewalk. When they go out the dog door that's all they have, and I bought one of these grass pads to put on the sidewalk so they still have a "yard". It's heavy enough I'm not worried about it blowing around outside. I didn't have to teach my dogs anything. My youngest (rock eating) dog immediately went and peed on it literally once I rolled it out on the tray. My old dog usually knows to pee on command, so I told her that's her pee place. She had some accidents right next to it the first couple days, but she's gotten better. Yeah they'd still rather have their big yard, they gaze sadly at their yard through the fence, but for a dog with severe grass allergies and tendency for rocks I think this is the best option. Oh and that's another thing, the grass is hydroponically grown. He has serious allergies, like he chews on his feet cause they itch after being outside and has constant yeast infections in his ears he goes to the vet for. I haven't noticed him chewing his feet since he was confined to just this grass. It might just be cause he's only on the grass long enough to potty and not exposed long enough, but I wonder if it's cause this stuff is hydroponically grown. Long review, sorry bout that. But this is really great. It's worth the investment and easier to take care of. It's honestly been a life saver for us.

Fresh Patch is useful and convenient in potty training our Miniature-Schnauzer puppy! We use it inside our home, in his fenced area, and placed on top of washable puppy pads. This product was recommended by the puppy's breeder, and we have been using it daily in our home for just over two weeks ago. With the arrival of our eight week old puppy, you can imagine the use this Fresh Patch Standard Size (15lbs or less) has had! Due to already having an older mature Miniature-Schnauzer in the home, our puppy has to be kept separated since we are awaiting the necessary vaccination period to be fully protected. This means no outside walks or bathroom breaks on our back lawn. As you know, per breeder's advice, the puppy is not allowed outside on the ground, nor mingling with his older sibling Miniature-Schnauzer. So...Fresh Patch it is! This product is highly convenient! The puppy is already familiar with using it, as the breeder had started potty training him with it weeks before his arrival! In the meantime, this product works has worked well and is durable! It arrived to our residence within four days. Fresh Patch is a compact patch of grass, in a waterproof box. This Fresh Patch with frequent daily use has lasted two weeks and three days. I wished I would have ordered another Fresh Patch sooner, as two weeks is pushing it with a young puppy and time has flown by! I can see how this might last a small mature dog longer since they are not peeing and pooing as frequently as a puppy! Be sure to pick up the solid waste quickly and gently from the grass to keep it in the best condition. Even with the many clean ups this Fresh Patch has had, it does not need to be watered. You can lightly mist it if need be. Remember dogs don't like walking on soaking wet grass to pee or poo! One thing in particular, keep an eye on your puppy as they will surely show interest in the patch, and begin to chew on the grass or pull on it. Even then, very durable. Be patient! With positive reinforcement, we encourage the puppy to stay off of it and distract him from it with toys or play time. If he is really persistent, then we remove it from his area for short periods of time. Puppies chew, so yes they will show interest in the box, but not for long if they are told no and given positive reinforcement! With that said, the box does holds up well. In case poo or pee comes in contact with the box, and it surely will. Glove up, grab a few paper towels, and wipe the sides down with puppy-safe cleaner or safe homemade cleaner periodically to freshen it up and keep it sanitary. I haven't had to do it too often, meaning lots throughout the day, as the puppy uses the Fresh Patch well. When the time comes, dispose of the Fresh Patch box in the trash. Also, you could compost the grass as well! Be sure to save money and use their Save 50% On Your Next Fresh Patch sticker when it arrives. One downside, Fresh Patch does not include a resuable tray for customers, as DoggieLawn does.
