I was so disappointed when I got this order. I ordered several books from Amazon for my class set because they would arrive faster. The disappointment came when we were reading aloud in class and we realized that the previous set of books (bought from a different seller) was different (and better) than this version. The ISBN number is identical, the only difference was that the cover from Amazon's version is shinier than the one from the smaller seller. It's such a shame!I do love the story and the writer has done an amazing job of taking the reader to the special times and places that impacted who she is today!

Me gustó porque Reyna narra su vida con mucho detalle y me llevo a imaginarme estar ahí con ella viviendo y sintiendo por todo lo que le tocó pasar. Y es la historia de muchas personas que a veces lo que necesitan es un poco de ayuda y voluntad para salir adelante. Grande, Reyna.

Este es el primer libro que he leído en español. He estado aprendiendo español durante 2 años y necesitaba algo para mejorar mi español. Descargué este libro en inglés y en español y leí un poco cada noche, primero en inglés y luego en voz alta en español. ¡Ha sido de gran ayuda y es un gran libro! Ya descargué otro libro, también en inglés y en español, de Reina Grande.

This is an excellent book. I am learning Spanish, so I want to read more Spanish literature. I was so moved by her story. It really needs to be a movie. I love the way she writes too.Reyna Grande is an American treasure 🥰

This book was a very good account of a young girl and her family caught on both sides of the border and the struggles they face when they choose to live a better more beautiful life on "the other side". Written in a simple almost spoken style, it is a great way to practice reading in Spanish while also deepening one's knowledge of Mexican life in a small impoverished village called Iguala in the Mexican state of Guerrero. The second part is an account of how the same family emigrates to the US with the help of a coyote and the struggles they face trying to make it in Los Angeles. I thought that the end was cut a bit short and could have included more détails about how the girl (the author) succeeds in her career and personal life.

A story of immigration, bittersweet, relatable and inspiring. A reflection on the story of the immigrant youth... the evidence of light and hope in the future.

La autora escribe de una manera clara, natural y honesta. No podía dejar de leer. La historia me conmovió, pues aunque yo no he tenido la necesidad de emigrar al otro lado, la vida de Reyna en México, me recordó mi infancia, que aunque en condiciones diferentes, comparti mos una misma cultura. Es una historia que me hizo llorar y valorar todo lo que he tenido y a la vez poder entender a todos esos migrantes, sus ganas de salir adelante y su busqueda del sueño americano. Una historia verdadera que incluye fotos . Me encantó esta novela. Gracias Reyna por compartir tan clara y honestamente tu experiencia.

La distancia entre nosotros es un libro realmente conmovedor, es triste, es esperanzador, es todo emociones...Descripciones que te parten el alma, que te hacen llorar, que te rompen por la mitad,pero que te aportan un halo de esperanza.Reyna Grande me ha enamorado por su escritura, por su valentía a la hora de contar todo lo que guardaba dentro y plasmarlo entre estas páginas.Es un libro muy necesario,recomendable y sería un buen ejercicio que se lea en todos los colegios, institutos e universidades del mundo.

Está historia es hermosa, cruda, real y llena de esperanzas.Nunca había leído un libro sobre los migrantes, pero este definitivamente me hizo darme cuenta de una realidad que está presente en nuestras vidas y a veces nos negamos a ver.

Una historia dura que confronta la realidad de la pobreza, el abandono, los abusos, pero también la esperanza y la perseverancia para andar el camino que lleva a hacer los sueños realidad. Muy recomendable!!

Me gustó mucho la manera de contar las cosas, debo decir que lloré en algunos capítulos y que sin duda creo que el lugar donde estamos es precisamente donde debemos estar..y que sin las dificultades de la vida no seríamos quienes somos. Mi admiración para la autora.
