Dried Up, Unusable
The first Tempistik I ordered arrived with the tip crushed so that it could not be unscrewed and the crayon was dried out and crumbled when applied to a hot cartridge case. It was returned for replacement, but the replacement was even worse. I intended to use these for testing annealing temperature of brass cartridge cases.

Not for smooth surfaces
I got this to use for annealing cases, thinking it may be a good alternative to the liquid. I was wrong, it is a very hard and very dry "crayon" that is better suited for marking rough surfaces than smooth ones.

Completely unusable
I purchased this temp pen to use while brazing. Like many others have stated, this temp pen is complete garbage. It doesn't do anything but crumble when you attempt to use it. You can heat steel up until it glows cherry red and this thing still won't melt (it just crumbles and falls apart). To top things off, I left the temp pen in the shop overnight and came back the next morning to find that it had swollen up and crumbled into pieces. I'm sending this back.

OK, but ...
Works as advertised, but the stick is so hard it doesn't stick well to anything. The higher temperature ones are even harder. Think I'll go with the liquid version next time even though it is more expensive.

will not work for cartridge annealing.
So hard and brittle that it crumbles when trying to place on case.

Mine was broke inside
It's a great product but the core was broken inside

Not for brass annealing
Not as easy as I'd hoped for testing brass cases while annealing the necks.
