Best mousepad ever
This thing is the best mousepad I have ever used right out of the tube it shipped in. I have a glass desk and my computer mouse hates it. I have been making mousepads out of suede leather for a long time and I planned on using this as-is as a suede mouse pad until I got it and realized that the smooth side really reduces mouse friction better than the suede. When you use a mouse as much as I do, it is the subtle things that make a big difference when you are going into overtime. This thick ol piece of leather is awesome. To prepare it, I just took it out of the shipping tube and bent it gently until it would lay flat. Next, I just used it. Pretty simple. When new, your hand turns the leather color where it rubs on the leather until the polish is mostly worn off, then you are good. Simple soap and water cleans you up. Wipes down with a damp cloth like a champ. My other suede mousepads would eventually smooth over and get kind of glossy looking after about 6 months. I would brush them out and they would get glossy again and again in shorter periods of time until I replaced them. When they got glossy, the mouse would more easily stick in place, thus negating the fine mouse control that I craved. The smooth side of the leather seems to resist this since it is smooth in the first place and the mouse remains both compliant in making very small moves as well as slightly resisting movement when I want it to remain stationary. If you are an artist type or some sort of nut like I am, you know what I mean by having just enough stiction when you want it and just enough willingness to move a small amount when you want that. A difficult balance that only leather seems to achieve for very long.

High Quality
I purchased this for woodworking vice jaws and it was perfect. Much better quality and thickness than the junk you can find at the craft centers. I wasn’t sure if it was treated with oils or another substance that would transfer to my workpiece so I gave it a light sand and coated with cornstarch for a few day, no issues or transfer at all.
