The Uncanny Inhumans 1 Hardcover – January 1, 2017

I really like these kinds of books that combine vol 1 and vol 2 together. I find inhuman stories amazing and the relationship between the characters is outstanding.

Following up on his very good Inhuman run comes the main Inhuman title post Secret Wars. This deluxe hardcover contains issues 0-10 and some stories from the free comic book day special.The Inhumans have gotten the big push by Marvel, for whatever reason, and they put some really good talent that has taken the franchise to very good places. the first volume of Inhuman set some high expectations and writer Charles Soule keeps the good tales coming. Soule returns to the focus to the Royal couple of Medusa and Black Bolt, and a few other supporting characters all of whom are fun and a joy to read about about.This collection basically has four stories, plus the free comic book day specials. The first is a big time traveling epic involving Kang the Conquer. Before Secret Wars, Black Bolt Earth's were going to collide and due to some events Black Bolt leaves his and Medusa's son to Kang to be safe in the timestream. A bunch of questions arise from this decision like why not save more this way and trusting Kang this way is pretty slippery but it seemed like a time constraint choice for Black Bolt to make. So the Earth survives and Black Bolt and Medusa fight through an epic to get their son back. My favorite tale of this collection.The second story focuses on Black Bolt's club called the Quiet Room. Since he is no longer the official King of the Inhumans due to his past actions and Medusa's say he creates a safe haven and neutral ground for all in the Marvel universe to meet and do business. Trouble breaks out. The main plot here is a who done with the theft of an important device from a rival Inhuman clan that could bring peace between the two. A group of newer Inhumans to the mythos get on the case for an exciting tale.The third story is a love story. It focuses in on Medusa and Johnny Storm's (the Human Torch) new relationship. How it started and how it's gonna go. Also, Crystal, Medusa's sister and a former flame (ha!) of Johnny's finally finds out.The last story is a one shot involving a cool newer Inhuman Reader that is a tale of revenge and redemption. It finishes up a plot thread from the Quiet Room as Reader has unfinished business with the thief previously mentioned and how a big a threat he really is.Have to mention that the art all around is great. Marvel all-star Steve McNiven does the first arc as the highlight.There will be one more installment coming out later this year until Soule wraps up his Inhuman run. I am excited and nervous as it does center around big Marvel events, Civil War II and Inhumans Vs. X-men. I hope being tied in does not affect the story poorly. Cannot wait to check it out though!
