If you're not in it for pure nostalgia, skip it.
When I first saw this, I had lots of 80's arcade games in mind that had been "converted" to board games. Pac Man, Q-Bert, and so on. Just simple things you could pick up, play with kids for a couple of rounds, and put away. This game seems overly complex for younger kids, and just didn't seem that interesting to older kids and adults, once the "OMG FROGGER" effect wore off.The game itself is well constructed, and I guess the hyper low-res graphics are cute. But people were getting bored with it before the instructions were clear to everyone.

A Blast from The Past! LOL
Playroom Entertainment - Frogger : Nostalgic Game , A Blast from The Past Frogger Arcade Game Now at Your Home , Play with Friends and Family to Get Your Frogger Accross Safely from DangerThis game brings back so many memories and it's fun for our daughter to play. We love game night and are always looking for new games, or old games. The pieces are cardboard and the frogs are wooden, but they seem to be good quality, nice and thick. This is great. The only strategy is when to use the points from eating flies. It's not super challenging and does not take long, it is really just an RNG based game, but it is still fun.

Ehhh... Faithful but just kind of okay
So, my kids recognized this but said it was like Crossy Road, because they're too young to have experienced Frogger the first time around. This is actually pretty faithful to the arcade game, but that doesn't necessarily make a great board game.It has a decent nostalgia factor, and it's not a bad game, but it's not a great one, either. My 9-year-old got into the retro video game aspect of it, but my 7-year-old was kind of confused and bored. The pieces are pretty decent quality -- nice pixelated-looking frogs and thick cardboard tokens. If my kids wanted to play this one I wouldn't be disappointed, but there are other games I think we have more fun with.

Takes Me Back
Ahhh this is a flashback to my childhood and I LOVED it!It's fun to play once you figure it out. The directions aren't the clearest compared to other games.Game play is as close to you can get to the video game for being a board game so I was glad to see that it didn't just get reinvented and lose the original dynamics of play.Would I recommend? Yes, if you LOVE FroggerWould I buy again? Only as a gift for someone who truly loves Frogger

So bad
I have a couple of other games that are video game based so I was hopeful for this one but wow, this is just terrible. My teen son and I sat down to play it and didn't even finish a whole game before we packed it away and moved on to something fun. To begin with the instructions are very poorly written. We're both seasoned gamers and still went back and forth on what the rules were trying to get at. Once we figured out what was going on we played one round and decided that was more than enough. The rules make it seem overly complicated but in reality it's simplisticly tedious. Unless you are a tremendous Frogger fan I would recommend skipping this one. And actually, even if you are a big Frogger fan I expect this would be a disappointment and would still recommend skipping it.

The gameplay and pieces
This game incorporates the dynamics of the video game by having the pieces slide across as your frog is standing on them. Frogs score points (flies) based on their placement when the first reaches across. The gameplay is complicated, with the flies not only acting as points toward winning, but also being able to buy moves with them. There are special move cards as well and you have to watch out for how the tiles are moving around your frog. I am not sure if a more simple gameplay would have resulted in a boring game that was too easy, but this may be overly complicated for an 8-yr old.The player pieces are sturdy. The cardboard tiles and fly tokens are made of cardboard. Although they could be damaged by water and peeling layers, they are thick so not likely to bend. There are many of these cardboard pieces to separate from sheets, but they pop out easily. The playing field has raised dividers between rows with a road one one side and water on the other. It folds in half. I appreciate that they included plastic bags for storage of the different cardboard pieces. This game would be a good gift for fans or collectors of classic video games.

A fantastic take on an old classic, well made components, and wooden frogs!
First off the minimum age recommendation on the product page states "96" which is obviously wrong. Recommended minimum age is 8, but I think you can go younger then that. I don't know how many hours I've sunk into the original and I no longer play video games, so when I saw this I had to have it to share with the kids. The box is nice and sturdy similar to high quality board game boxes. The inserts work and chits are all of nice size and thickness. The addition of frogs in wood is really nice at this price point as well. The board is made of thick cardboard, and has a 3D element to it that has risen strips that allow items to slide easily across the board. The game play is similar and the board moves along while you try to get across. The board moves by human movement from right to left and vise versa after each hop, by the opponent so think wisely before placing your frogs. The gameplay is straightforward and easily to grasp even by the recommended minimum age and quite possibly younger. You can still tally up points by eating the various flies that have different point values, or use them to for energy (additional jump that turn). Overall, a simple but fun game, and can accommodate up to 4 players and the 4 rounds per games last about 20-30 minutes of total gameplay.
