Amazing headphones! If they break, you're putting them on wrong...
I love these headphones. I bought these to replace my older wired extra bass sonys. I have had them now for a little under a year and they're in the same condition as I bought them but a little softer on the ears perhaps. They produce great volume, and loud bass that you can control to a laughably ridiculous amount with their app. I have had no issues with them. I use them on all my devices including my Avantree usb on my PC and PS4.Now, how do you keep them from breaking on you? Well, I was scared of the other reviews of people having theirs break before I bought them. I was very nervous and treated them very delicately at first. What I do is make sure that I am putting them on by holding the upper sides above the rotating parts. I never pull or twist on the rotating parts to get them on or off. Like I said, they're still in the same condition when I bought them and I probably use these almost daily for up to 3-4 hours at a time. I've worn them around my neck, ran at the gym with them on (I wouldn't recommend because they'll make your ears hot), thrown them in my bags and backpacks. You get the picture, I use these a lot. Not to mention, I did buy these off of warehouse deals with a slightly damaged box.Great buy, durable enough, and if they were to break on me tomorrow, I would probably get another pair but I feel these will last me another good year or so.

Absolutely fantastic! Great job Sony!!!
After trying both of the XB950N1 and the ch700n’s in store I decided I liked the xtra bass a lot more so I waited for them to go on sale. Needless to say I wasn’t willing to spend $249 on a set of noise canceling headphones, when the exact copy of them without noise canceling is less than $100. Instead of waiting for a sale however, I went ahead and ordered the non-noise canceling version, and I could not be happier. These are fantastic quality and the noise canceling is not missed. I mostly use these when listening to music while others are in the same room watching TV, or while watching movies in bed paired to an I pad. Frequency response is just as good as the 700n’s in my opinion, albeit overall the 700n’s are a little brighter if that makes sense, and wow the bass can really rattle your brain with the right song. Everything I ever wanted in a wireless headset. Finally, the battery life is incredible. I have used them for approximately two months now and they get used on average three times a week for 1-2 hours at a time. They have only been charged once and are just now getting to the point where they need to be recharged. Doing the math that’s approximately 30-32 hours! Wow, just wow! I am sure there are better sets out there for triple or quadruple the price, but for the average every day user these are amazing. If you’re on the fence, just do it!

More expensive than some but worth it.
More expensive than Chinese-made competitors but worth it. My son had a pair of these which I tried and liked. At first I bought a cheap ($30) China-brand set that looked kind of like these. I returned those because they didn't sound nearly as good as my son's. I went back and bought these after trying those others. Bass effect is impressive. Phone app works, but is kind of lame. App is the only way to adjust the amount of "bass effect." Bass effect (once level is set in app) can be turned on and off with a button on the headphones. App also lets you pick a few different digital sound modes like "stadium" and "concert hall," etc. Battery life is good. Some plastic parts but good build quality. Max volume is lower than I thought but more than acceptable. Only real negatives: 1) They do not come with a case (I ordered one from Amazon by "Ginsco" for $7 that works fine) and 2) sometimes they make my head/ears hot if I wear them too long. Kind of like wearing a hat inside. Not unbearable but a consideration if you are sensitive to this.

Great...but not as great as the version before it.
I first became a fan of Sony Headphones when I bought the MDR-XB950BT back in 2017. I had owned many other "top of the line" brands before and when I had put the Sony's on my ears, they produced a full, rich sound that was 2nd to none. The previous brands couldn't even hold a candle to what I was hearing in my new Sony's. I had these for 3 years and used them HEAVILY. The sound actually still worked perfectly fine when I went to replace them at the end of 2020. But the plastic on one of the ears finally cracked and was hanging by a wire, so I decided it was time for a new pair.I scoured the internet for another identical pair and couldn't find them anywhere, but I did find these ones, the Sony MDR-XB950B1, which were apparently next updated version in the same line. I am overall very pleased, but I do have a few complaints...On a positive note, the sound seems pretty much the same...full, rich, & immersive. The BASS feature (which I always leave turned on) is excellent. However, there are 2 issues I have found that make them inferior to the previous version in my opinion. 1. When I switch between having them synced up to my MacBook and then leave my office and try to pair them with my iPhone, the volume level is capped and a ridiculously low level. I can hardly hear the music, even at full volume. I actually have to turn them off and back on TWICE when paired to the iPhone to get the volume level to go back to normal. I am not sure why this happens, but it is very annoying. 2. The bluetooth connectivity range is TRASH compared to the predecessor. With my old pair, I was able to get up from my computer, and move about my house or coffee shop to go to the kitchen or to the bathroom, etc. The connection was completely uninteruppted within a very long range it seemed. On some occasions I was even able to go out and cross the street to get something out of my car when I was parked at a coffee shop without losing connection. However, with this newer version, the exact opposite is true. I can't get up from my desk and literally walk 10 feet down the hallway to use the restroom without the connection totally cutting in and out. It makes me feel like I received a faulty pair or something. So overall, love them, but would've loved them more if they would've left the first version(MDR-XB950BT) on the market. The MDR-XB950B1 is clearly the inferior headphone in my opinion.
