Exploring the Old Testament: A Guide to the Prophets (Volume 4) (Exploring the Bible Series)

Teaching my Students about the Prophets, first collaborating it with the Historical Books of the Bible, then connecting how the work of the Prophets began.....

I liked the breakdown of this book with each prophet getting his own chapter. Each Chapter contains a brief history and setting as well as information about authorship, date and so on. There are also "Think about" and "Digging Deeper" segments in the book which focuses on certain themes individually thus allowing the reader to go deeper with his or her study instead of just reading the facts. The great advantage of this book is the further reading bibliography found at the back of each chapter which provides the reader with the opportunity to take his or her study of a specific prophet to a greater degree if he or she wishes.

I enjoyed some of the information presented in this book, but overall the writing style was rather dry and not very engaging. I would recommend this book to someone who wants to study more in depth about this subject, but that has the patience to wade through the areas where it tries to put you to sleep.

As a Reader in the Church of Scotland where my prime task is Worship leading is is a pleasure to have a book such as this that can give an easily accessible overview of the Prophets where their relevance and importance to much of the New Testament writings can be joined up.In itself it is an interesting read and the further reading be they Commentaries or Other Books and Articles is very comprehensive. An excellent purchase for my needs.Thank you.

this makes minor prophet study a bit easy. It gives historical and theological facts pertinent to each book.

Useful resource for Old Testament survey that assists undergraduate students be introduced to issues of contemporary scholarship. Approaches the biblical text with respect whilst remaining open to a range of perspectives. Emphasis is on assisting users of the resource to engage in a dialogical approach to their learning.

Used this text for a class Moses and the Prophets. Not as intriguing to read as Volume 1 had been. Still a good source of exploration though!

Well written but didn't have have as much information as I wanted.

Highly recommend this for anyone out there who is a Christian and feels like todays version of Christianity is watered down. The depth of Gods word is immeasurable as far as I’m concerned with our finite minds but this book gets as close as I can wrap my head around ... and honestly sometimes a bit above my head! I love Gods word and this is a great companion to read with it. If you’re seeking God give this book a read. It will show you WHy the bible is valid
