Terrific Product
Once you get some of the protective coating off and get the striker at the proper angle it creates a great spark! The best part is the long cord that helps you keep the striker and the flint together so you don't lose anything. Plus the long length of the cord allows for the full range of motion needed for striking and getting your fire going. The bottle opener is not the best one I have ever used but the convenience factor of it being a part of the striker is a great plus. One less thing to have to bring on my next camping trip :)

Exactly What I Wanted - No Surprises.
I purchased the Ferro Firesteel Rod for a weekend backpacking trip. I was afraid it would not arrive before my trip but showed up almost exactly as the estimated delivery time had stated. The packaging was a small box and was delivered via USPS - very nicely tucked away and in perfect condition.The firesteel rod itself is very nice - it feels firm and durable in the hand despite my initial concerns for the point where the wood meets the steel. The steel has some sort of coating on it that makes the first use a bit difficult; however, after a few strikes the coating scratches off and the sparks this little puppy create are very nice.- On that note - I did find the little piece of steel that this comes with a bit useless. I am sure you could make it work if you do not have a knife that you take with you on outings- but it was defiantly less effective that my knife and much more difficult to use.Overall - you will get exactly what you pay for with this product - a very useful and convenient firesteel rod.

Great size, just right! Solid and cord is just right. Suggestion may be in future to use the "fire cord" as an alternative... that would be a sweet selling upgrade!

I have had it a short time and the handle has already separated from the rod . Junk in my opinion. I would not buy it again.

The Ferro did itself is striking very well, however the wood broke after 10 strikes. I'm not talking the Ferro did just fell out, the entire wooden handle broke apart. Not very essential, however still an issue in quality
