Well designed, engineered and right wood, easy to put together.
I bought to replace a completely inadequate "sleeper sofa" in a travel trailer slide out.My problem was that the inside "length/width" side to side of the slideout was 73.5 inches. Everything including this is 74 inches or 74 1/2 inches. I looked and looked and looked and with metal, there is "no give" on the width. I finally took a hard look at this and figured since it was wood, I could cut it down...just enough to fit.So, did it work? Yes but... This is very well engineered and designed and that all assume you are NOT going to cut it down to size like I did. But you have to be careful. The best way, in retrospect is to cut BOTH edges and not just one off including losing one of the dowels on each side. That worried me for structural integrity, but it is a bit over engineered where all of the other pieces once together compensate. And in the end, it all went together and is structurally sound... I had purchased metal support pieces and extra screws assuming I would need them when I did NOT. I did have to do a couple of my own "pilot" holes to ensure a good bite with the screws, but in the end, it works great and is the ONLY thing that will fit.I now have a full size futon that extends out perfectly so when in "sofa" mode it allows the slide to move in without hitting anything. Then when you get to the campground, put it in bed mode with a good six inch mattress and a true real life adult can actually sleep on it...comfortably...I am very pleased and by having to adapt it with a bit of engineering/construction background, I was able to see how well designed and constructed it was for people who do NOT have to adapt it including cutting off edges and structural dowel fasteners.Great product AND, drum roll please, American made... And for what you get, pretty inexpensive compared to anything else on Amazon even before the tariffs. Including a high quality six inch futon mattress my total price was 398 bucks. I am impressed. The only weakness would be individual units where a piece might be cut where the grain creates a structural "break point" and a screw could break it or stress. But I see at least one other buyer who had this happen and the company responded on a weekend and immediately sent out a replacement part. So, I'm thinking they are aware of it and have excellent customer service to address it. This is due to their choice of wood and its intrinsic quick growth grain orientation, however tulip poplar is a great choice of wood for this overall, relatively inexpensive, light, good construction characteristics overall for this type of product. This was well thought out by whomever runs this company.

Three important points.
This is a solid wood frame. At this price point, I was not expecting this level of quality. I want to point out a couple of other things. Firstly, the instructions for assembly are clear. This is a huge differentiator, because in many cases deciphering the instructions for self assembly items requires a degree in cryptography. Second, the precision at which the pre drilled holes are place is excellent. All too often, either because of poor manufacturing, I find I have to sort of force things into position to line up. Not the case here. Lastly, customer support. I found a crack in one of the pieces of wood, and emailed them. I had a reply same day…. On a Sunday! I am awaiting the replacement which was shipped out next day. Great experience overall.

This is actually real wood!
I love the fact that this is American made! I also love that it is solid hardwood Poplar. The hardware that was included was really good quality. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. I’m very very impressed with the quality. However, there are a couple of things that would improve this futon frame:1. In order for it to be comfortable as a bed, the slats really need to be closer together. As a sofa, it’s fine as long as you don’t sit too long, but I put it together the same day that I received it and slept on it that night, it was a bit uncomfortable. I even used a latex mattress topper on top of the futon and it was still uncomfortable. I’m gonna try a thicker mattress Pad to see if this works, but I’ll probably end up getting a piece of plywood To cover the frame when I have guests that need to use it as a bed.2. It would be great if each of the wooden parts could be labeled specifically showing the part number. You have to look at the diagram and figure out which wooden piece goes where and then they are not labeled. I put a couple of pieces on incorrectly because of this.Overall, I’m very impressed with the quality, and yes, I would buy it again because it’s such a solid piece of furniture. Wider slats or more of them would’ve made it perfect. It’s so hard these days to find anything made of solid wood.

Sturdy Wood Frame
My futon frame was delivered as a large heavy box. All the pieces were unpacked, inventoried and separated. The only tool needed is a screwdriver. Its really simple to put together even though some of the wood parts were mislabeled. If you pay attention to where the wooden dowels are located in relation to the pictograph instructions, you'll be fine. You'll know if a part is mislabeled when you lay out the parts for assembly and the holes, or preinstalled dowels are in the wrong location. You may have to flip the part over, or around for the parts to mate together correctly. I used a small rubber mallet to tap everything together before locking it together with the strategically located seat and backrest screws. It functions as advertised. The futon mattress is full sized, 6in thick. Its going to need to be "trained" to accept the fold. Its not sitting all the way down. Its resisting being folded. I may lay on it for awhile to help it out. I suppose I should have taken photos before I placed the cushion on it, but its so heavy, and I had such a hard time getting it up on the frame ( it kept slipping to one side crooked), I decided to leave well enough alone and send the photos. I plan on getting some felt for the feet. Don't want any more scratches on my floor: )
