Inexpensive but effective repair for expensive parts
I used this kit after some valve cover fasteners went into an aluminum timing cover and just kept spinning... The kit had everything I needed to make threaded holes stronger than OEM for about 20% the price of the name-brand kit. The whole process took about 4 minutes, which is about one day and $200 less than sending the car to the shop. No instructions, but thread repair videos are easy to find. All you need is a drill, some grease (to catch shavings), and a tap handle that will hold about a 5/16" tap.

Such an easy fix !
I do a lot of work on older motors, Japanese mostly , no matter how careful you are stripping threads in alloys happens. This is such an easy fix and maintaining the integrity of these engines is very important and now made very easy !

Better threads than the original that I damaged.
This was easy to use, just use the drill to enlarge the hole. Run the tap to the bottom and insert the Helicoil. I now have a repaired thread in my multi thousand $ outboard without spending hundreds at the Marina.I believe this repair is stronger than the original cast iron thread and will never corrode.
