I never heard of this product until I got involved in a wood donut project for my daughter's barn wedding. I was talking to a friend about what I was going to do with the wood and he told me that I should put something on the wood to prevent them from cracking. I researched the process and found that Pentacryl Wood Stabilizer was the product to use. I purchased the product, applied as directed and no cracks. It has been several weeks since I applied Pentacryl and still no cracking. I highly recommend this product to prevent the wood from cracking.

Good product.

Used this product to make cookies cut from a large oak tree of various sizes. I wanted to prevent cracking and this product did a remarkable job of doing this. Applied the product to about 10 different cuts ranging from a quarter Inch to two inches thick. Let the wood soak pentacryl for slightly longer than suggested on the bottle. Put the slices in a shallow pan and flipped every 12 hrs.Not one crack after applying the product! Slices have been drying for about 2 weeks and not a single crack. I left several slices that were not treated and all show severe cracking. The slices that I made absorbed nearly all of the product.This product will darken the wood slightly but the detail of the grain will remain intact. The bark is also harder and sealed tightly onto the wood slices. The wood is much harder when treated and has a much denser and more durable feel. I reccomend fully sanding before application because the treated wood seemed to gum up sand paper quickly.Very pleased with the product and honesty quite surprised. Just ordered my 2nd bottle.
