this book is a great book and as described. It is as described and is great for those with a passion for fashion and fashion design.

This book and accompanying DVD are awesome. The are abundant pictures and the directions are clear and concise. This book focuses in on specific areas of tailoring and details those areas precisely. They are buttonholes, patch pockets, interfaced hems, converting darts to ease, tailored sleeves, fly zipper closure and measuring for trouser hems. The final chapter takes a look at what are the characteristics of a couture garment.Another superb book from Clair Shaeffer to add to your collection .

Claire Shaeffer did it again. She produced a beautiful book, showing some of the finest tailoring I have ever seen. The photographs are clear, and the DVD shows the techniques in real time. I can't wait for the next book, chanel Jackets, to arrive.

Several technics are shown, if you are an advanced sewer, there is probably not very much new to you. But is nicely ranged and organised and clearly explaned with a lot pictures.The book has 6 chapters, buttonhole, patch pockets, interfaced hems, darts and sleeves, trousers and caracteristics of couture construction.The actual book is not very thick it has (only) 81 pages, then there is an appendix of about 30 pages were she repeats a lot (not everything), which she just explaned in the first part of the book only this thime with drawings.The book comes with an DVD, I have to admit that I did not had the time to look at it.. so I cannot give any comment on that.

I ordered this on Tuesday and received it on Friday! It is in pristine condition!I love the technical yet easy to understand tailoring info. I want to start by saying, I have not read any other publications by this author.This book is a "stand alone" guide in many ways.The details go on and on, and I confess I haven't read it fromcover to cover. But in picking out certain topics, I can see that this author knows their stuff, and more importantlyknows how to convey information in a straight forward matter-of-fact manner. It's one thing to know it for yourselfand it's quite another to be able to convey that to someone else.I haven't watched the DVD but I look forward to delving into this level of sewing for haute couture.The diagrams in this book are clear, and self explanatory. It clearly shows various stitches for hand sewing and varioustechniques for stitching hand worked button holes. I highly recommend this information ONLY if you are ready to gointo a much deeper commited level (if not time consuming)of sewing.I think it is its OWN REWARD.

Claire B. Schaeffer is a tremendous talent and I am so very glad I purchased this book. The CD was an unexpected bonus. I have used the CD several times when I wanted to use a specific technique. Who says the old ways are dying? Let's bring back pride in our clothing and the gifts we make our loved ones!! I am doing it, thanks to this book!
