Great for walnut in shell
My experience: I used it only for walnuts in shell and have opened about 5 lb of medium sized walnuts with it so far, on average 2-5 walnuts per day and it’s been wonderful.I’m very happy with it overall, recommend it, and would buy it again. It will work with different size walnuts which is great.it worked great for walnuts, I do recommend it, and would buy it again. I like that it’s easy to use, it’s sturdy, and functional. What I don’t like is that sometimes a small piece pops out from it, but that’s acceptable and not a show stopper. For best results, I recommend giving it a small squeeze and opening with fingers, or if in a rush like me and just want to get it done fast: keep the small opening on the bottom over a bowl to catch any possible shells from falling out of the bottom, and the palm of your other hand slightly over and above the larger opening on top to catch any possible shells from going astray. Before buying it I used to grab two walnuts and squeeze them against each other in the palm of my hand until one of them broke. I like the nut cracker better :)

Whole nuts!
Once I figured out how to use the cracker for pecans, it was easy. Put the rounded end of the pecan in first then crack. Reverse it and put the pecan in with the pointed end and crack. That produces a crack like a cap resembling a plastic Easter egg. Pull the cap off and you get a whole nut.It takes a little practice but once the routine is established, the shelling goes fast.I put the empty shells in a powerful blender and made compost for my herbs. I am going to try to mix the grinds with sand and plant some herbs.Obviously, I am happy with this purchase. Whole nutmeats and organic dry compost. Win win.

Not a good pecan cracket
Just doesn't work good for me Too much pecan to pick out of shells. Should have bought the other one.

Worked well until broken in 2 years
Purchased on 2021, and was in normal daily use with shelled walnuts.it did a good job to unshell most of walnuts I had. However the metal pin inside the barrel slid out, but unable to put it back in place.item eventually broken to half in 2023.

Too big for most nuts
The main opening is too large for almost all nuts. Even Brazil nuts were too small to be cracked in the main chamber and had to use the outer portion, which made it messy. Only reason I got this one was because the chamber looked like it would contain most of the shells, but you can’t crack almonds, hazelnuts, pecans or even smaller walnuts in there since it’s too big. Needed to use the outer portion for every nut, so you’d be better off with a standard cheaper nutcracker. It is sturdy and seems decent quality. But you need huge nuts for this thing to work properly.

Best nut cracker I’ve had.
Walnuts can usually be removed in one piece.

Only works for walnuts
This works for walnuts (although it shatters the actual nut along with the shell so you have to pick through the shell fragments), but anything smaller than a walnut doesn’t work. I’m definitely returning it.
