Just eat cacao beans or nibs
My GF bought this product and was complaining how it was not doing anything. Newsflash; a lot of supplements wont if they are not extensively third party tested. A lot of companies in the UK just don't bother with it, so they aren't worth buying from. Until Joe Blogg is more educated about how absolutely dire the issue of quality control of supplements is in the UK, it's never gonna change. It's truly shocking when you dig deep enough to realise that most of these companies are lying through their teeth, and the FSA does not give one as long they do not make medical claims. You have zero consumer protection when it comes to supplements. Keep that in mind.On the bright side and more importantly though, You do not need expensive cacao extract supplements to access their flavanols and alkaloids. Minimally processed cacao products (AKA not chocolate, dark or otherwise) have about 10-40mg of flavanols and alkaloids per gram. The more acrid and bitter the taste, the better the flavanol/alkaloid content. especially theobromine which is where most the bloodflow benefits come from. So, if you buy some cheap cacao nibs or raw beans which will likely be sourced from the forastero cultivar, ya golden. Criollo will give you more access to epicatechin, but the theobromine drops considerably, and that is arguably the more important alkaloid for when people bandy around claims of chocolate being good for circulation. Chocolate has 10x less flavanols and alkaloids than the beans themselves. Any chocolate maker making that claim should be sued into destitution. Chocolates a nice snack now and then, but ya kiddin yaself if you think you are getting any cacao flavanols or alkaloids(especially alkaloids) from it regardless of quality. The heating, fermenting, and drying processes make it lose practically all of its nutrtional value and also concentrates the caffeine and copper. which can make chocolate an issue for people with caffeine sensitivity without the epicatechin and theobromine to balance the effects caffeine has on the CNS.So, yeah. Buy some nibs or beans. forget supplements and expensive, "ceremonial grade" cacao. If ya really just in it for the health benefits, then beans and nibs are your best bet

A good alternative to cacao, cocoa, and dark chocolate
I have used cacao powder in my shakes for a long time as a way to supplement a large amount of cocoa flavanols into my diet.I haven't until now taken a cocoa extract supplement to replace that, but I like that it just takes a small tablet to achieve the same effect. These tablets contain 200mg of cocoa flavanols, which, according to clinical trials, is in line with the lower end of dosages in studies. The standard dose is between 500-1,000 mg per day, which equates to 2.5-5 of these tables per day.Typically I take around 25g of cacao powder per day, which should contain at least 500mg of flavanols. Therefore, one of these capsules should be equivalent to about 10g of cacao powder, Or, as it says on the box, equivalent to 400g of high quality dark chocolate. For most people I would imagine this will be a great alternative to having to consume so much cacao powder, as cacao is incredibly bitter. The alternatives are cocoa powder, which is lower in flavanols (meaning you need to consume even more) but much more palatable, or dark chocolate which is even more palatable but much higher in calories. The effects of this are a feeling of wakefulness, like having a cup of strong coffee, and relaxation of blood vessels which improves circulation. It's a good supplement, and somewhat reasonably priced considering it's a niche supplement that is not widely available.
